I was recently invited to visit My Scan Hub - a private MRI, ultrasound and blood testing centre, right in Bluewater shopping centre car park! 🩺

In just one afternoon, I had a full-body MRI, ultrasound AND full blood test - all without needing a GP referral.

Everything was carried out by qualified radiologists and health experts, followed by a GP consultation to talk through my results.

You'd be forgiven for thinking London, but the top UK city is actually Nottingham, which over the past 12 months awarded an average pay rise of £3,334.

And what do us Brits do when we receive these payrises?

According to the data, nearly 50% of us who got a payrise in the past year increased our spending to match it.

This is called ‘lifestyle creep’, one of the biggest barriers to building wealth.

A suggestion from me? Lock in a lifestyle you can actually enjoy and afford today.

And when you get your next pay rise, put a chunk straight into savings, investments, your pension - or use it to pay off debt.

Because your income going up should mean your wealth going up too.

Should children be separated into different sets based on their maths ability at school? 📚

Last week I had the privilege of speaking at the House of Lords Numeracy for Life Select Committee, alongside CEO Sam Simms and trustee Lynne McClure.

The objective of the session was to provide evidence on ways in which we can improve the numeracy and number confidence of the nation, starting at one of the earliest possible moments in a child's life - in the classroom.

During the session when asked about why I think pupils get left behind in maths at school, I pointed to my own experience of falling into a lower set during secondary school, and the negative effect this had on my number confidence at the time.

Thankfully I use maths every day in my job as an educator, and I have fallen back in love with the subject.
