Celebration Day is always one of the highlights of the Willington calendar, and this year was particularly special.

From our orchestra and every class from Years 1–6 taking to the stage, to the presentation of our Contribution, Resilience and Four Pillars awards, the afternoon was a wonderful celebration of the talent, character and achievements of our children.

A huge thank you to our guest speaker, Chris Bates, from , whose thoughtful and inspiring words encouraged our children to embrace every opportunity that lies ahead.

We were also incredibly proud of the heartfelt speeches given by our three Head Boys as they reflected on their journeys through Willington. As the final all-boys cohort to leave the school before our first co-educational Year 6 joins them next year, it was a poignant moment in our school's history and a fitting celebration of all they have achieved.

Congratulations to every child who performed, received an award or simply stepped onto the stage with confidence and pride. It was a wonderful afternoon and a perfect way to celebrate another exceptional year at Willington.

🐠🌊 A splash of colour from Year 4! 🌊🐠

Our ‘Under the Sea’ project has now come to an end, with pupils creating these beautiful tropical fish as part of their work. Full of colour, creativity and personality, the finished pieces are a wonderful celebration of imagination and artistic skill.

We are already looking forward to our Summer Art Exhibition in June, where projects from across the school will be on display - a chance to celebrate the creativity and individuality of every child. 🎨✨

🎪☀️ Our Year 6 Summer Fair is underway this afternoon! ☀️🎪

This much-loved event is entirely pupil-led and marks the culmination of the Willington Extended Project - part of our post-11+ curriculum designed to bring learning to life in meaningful and practical ways.

Over recent weeks, the children have been busy planning, budgeting, designing, organising and promoting their own stalls and activities, drawing on skills from across the curriculum including English, Maths, Art, Music and Drama. Even the fantastic poster for today’s event was designed by the pupils themselves. 👏

From Tin Can Alley and Coconut Shy to Football Shoot-Outs, Treasure Hunts, Arcade Games and refreshments ☕, today’s fair promises to be a brilliant afternoon all while raising money for

We are incredibly proud of the children and all they have achieved. What a fantastic way to kick off the half term! 🌟

🎶 Last week, ten musicians from Years 5 &6 were welcomed to for an incredible day with the Orpheus Sinfonia. 🎶

Zeb Soanes (author) and James Marangone (composer) were in attendance for a day of workshops with the professional musicians, preparing and presenting a performance of the story, 'Fred and the Fantastic Tub-Tub' in the beautiful chapel of the school.

A memorable day of music-making, collaboration and creativity for our young musicians. A huge thank to Cranleigh School for the invitation. 🎻✨

🌍🦁 Exploring South Africa, one LEGO brick at a time 🧱

Our Year 5 pupils have been learning all about the different biomes of South Africa in Humanities - from grasslands and deserts to forests and savannas - before bringing their ideas to life in our much-loved Lego Room.

Using creativity, teamwork and problem-solving, the children worked together to build detailed biome models, thinking carefully about climate, wildlife and landscapes along the way.

The reel also features one of our Year 5 pupils explaining their learning in their own words — a wonderful reminder that some of the most powerful learning happens when children are fully engaged, hands-on and excited to share what they know.

At Willington, we believe learning should be active, imaginative and balanced. 🌿

🏆➕🧠 Maths Wizard Champions 2026 🧠➕🏆
We were delighted to take part in the Maths Wizard Competition alongside 20 other local prep schools. Our Year 5 mathematicians tackled a series of fast-paced and challenging rounds, testing their logic, reasoning and teamwork throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud that our team was awarded first place and brought home the Maths Wizard Trophy 2026. While the children were thrilled with the result, we were equally proud of the humility, encouragement and teamwork they showed throughout the competition - values which matter just as much as the outcome itself.

A huge thank you to Hampton School for hosting such a brilliantly organised event and providing a wonderful experience for all involved. Congratulations as well to every school that took part - the standard was incredibly high.

🍃 Curious minds at work… 🐞

There’s something rather special about learning outdoors.

This term, our Reception children will be immersed in Curious Creatures – Life in our Forest 🌿🕷️ From gently searching for minibeasts to creating their own habitats, each outdoor learning session will be shaped by what captures their interest in the moment.

Guided by our Curiosity Cockatoo, the focus is simple: notice, wonder, and ask questions. It’s in these small discoveries that confidence grows and a genuine love of learning begins.

At Willington, childhood and curiosity go hand in hand. ✨
