☕️ Year 12s are leading the way for Macmillan Coffee Morning! 💚

This Friday, SBUA will be coming together to host the Macmillan Coffee Morning, with students playing a key role in bringing the event to life.

From organising activities to helping create an event for our wider school community, it’s a great opportunity for students to put their skills into action while supporting an important cause.

There’ll be coffee, cake, activities and plenty of opportunities to get involved, with funds raised going towards Macmillan Cancer Support.

If you’re a local resident, parent, carer or part of our wider community, we’d love for you to come along, grab a coffee, enjoy some cake and support a great cause.

“What do you actually want to do in the future?”

It’s a question young people hear a lot. And sometimes, the honest answer is: I’m not sure yet.

That’s why opportunities like last week’s Careers Fair at Southwark College are so useful.

SBUA sixth formers had the chance to speak to employers, universities and other organisations, ask questions about careers and apprenticeships, and find out what different pathways could look like.

Some students came away with a clearer idea of what they might want to do. Others discovered options they hadn’t thought about before.

The message from students was simple: keep asking questions, explore your options and don’t worry about having it all worked out just yet. 💭

🏉 A proud summer for SBUA Rugby

Four SBUA rugby league players have had a fantastic summer, representing London Broncos and South London while continuing to develop their skills and experience.

Three students represented London Broncos U16s at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in front of around 5,000 spectators. After the Broncos' 1895 Cup Final victory, they were also invited onto the pitch to celebrate with the first-team squad and trophy.

All four students have now been selected to represent South London in the upcoming North v South fixtures. With all four still U15s, this is a fantastic achievement.

A special congratulations also goes to Yiska, who has been shortlisted for the London Junior League Player of the Year Award.

A brilliant achievement for the students, and a proud moment for their families and everyone at SBUA. Well done! 👏🏉

Enrolment remains open until Thursday 11 September. Parents, carers and students are welcome to come into school and speak to the team about courses, options and the next steps.

Today was all about meeting the SBUA team, exploring the school, getting to know new classmates and taking part in activities and icebreakers.

Today, our Year 11s opened the next chapter. 🎓

After five years of secondary school, the Class of 2026 returned to SBUA to collect their GCSE results, celebrate with friends and teachers, and start thinking about what comes next.

From nervous waits and big reactions to proud smiles and plenty of celebrations, it has been a special day across the Academy.

For many of our students, the journey continues at SBUA Sixth Form. We also welcomed new students joining us for enrolment, making today a day of both celebration and new beginnings.

What a day to celebrate!

We’re incredibly proud to announce that SBUA has achieved its best-ever vocational results.

🏆 77% of students achieved MMM or above

And the Digital Media students achieved an average of three grades higher than expected!

Behind every result is hard work, progress, determination and a whole lot of support.

Today, we celebrate them and everything they have achieved.
