I just wanted to come by and say hello, welcome all of you to Alterleap and invite you to take our Eco-anxiety quiz (if you haven’t done so) so we can get this movement properly started!!! 🌎🌱💥 Einstein used to say that 50% of the solution to any problem lies in understanding the problem deeply, and so… we need to understand how the climate and biodiversity loss crises are affecting us at a personal level, and how to cope with it, so we can move on to imagining and building a brilliant future for ourselves, our loved ones and our beautiful planet. Taking the eco-anxiety test is the very first step of the life changing transformation journey we’re going to embark on. 🙌🏻
Also, if you have already taken the quiz, do share how the tips have helped you and what else do you do to navigate through the planet crisis without going insane, I want to know YOU better and we can all learn from each other! 🫶 Love to you and to Mother Earth 💚

The role of women in the blue economy is major. However, like in other sectors, their value is overlooked and their contributions remain marginalised and undervalued.

Gender inclusion benefits all. According to a report from the UNCTAD Org, US $13trn of global GDP would be gained from achieving gender equality. In order to reach this goal, inclusive and transformative policies are crucial, along with local and decentralised approaches. Investing in women and girls at every level of the blue economy is fundamental to preserve the health of our oceans.

What happens when we don't recognize our eco-anxiety and the rest of our "negative" feelings? The earlier we accept our emotions, the better equipped we will be to navigate today's complex reality.

In episode 2, Conversations About Eco-anxiety, we interview an exceptional guest: Rodrigo Gomez Aleman, a cognitive-behavioral psychologist specializing in schema therapy and an eco-anxiety expert.

He talks about the importance of learning how to deal with emotions and how this is especially important in our western cultures. He also goes through five steps we need to take if we want to go from feeling guilty, sad, and frustrated to feeling hopeful, empowered, and invigorated.

To tackle the climate crisis, redesigning models and economic structures is fundamental. We live in an economy which serves humans, but what about nature? Bioeconomy is an economic model which takes all living things into consideration. It serves the humans, the planet and progress.

To learn more about bioeconomy listen to Why We Will Make Episode 1, where Ariana explores this economic concept and its importance in our transformation into a more sustainable future.

“The future is a process, not a destination”

12/10/2022

In this first episode of Why Will We Make It, Ariana our founder, dives deep into the root of the climate and biodiversity loss crises to cut through the noise and explain in a simple and clear way all about the problem we face, what we can do about it and the potential we all have to build a better future.

With her usual passion when it comes to talking about protecting our planet and being our best larger-selves, she argues that although the challenge we face is truly alarming, we have everything at our disposal to turn these crises around and reinvent pretty much everything about the way we live, think, eat, travel, learn, build and understand the world and humanity’s place in it.

The climate and biodiversity loss crises affect our mental health profoundly and can lead to eco-anxiety. There’s not much we can do for ourselves and our planet if we’re paralyzed by fear, if we give up or if we become cynical or in denial.

We created this quiz to help you understand how these crises are making you feel and the steps you can take to navigate them without losing hope. It is the first step of an incredible transformation journey that lies ahead of you. Take the quiz and start now!

A healthy connection with Nature and all our non-human sisters and brothers based on respect and care is a guaranteed way to protect the future of our planet and our own. Animals make our planet healthy, are amazing teachers to those willing to learn, and are wonderful examples of loyalty, unconditional love and sustainable living. If you want to celebrate them, you can support SeaLegacy, an organization we ourselves support and whose work and courage we admire.
