On the 11th hour of the 11th day, The John Fisher School came together to pay their respects to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of students, staff, alumni and governors
A proud and moving moment for the school community.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace!

From the city of Kuching to a hilltop in the jungle, the World Challenge team saw Borneo in all its diversity during their two week trip. Highlights included trekking in the Bako National Park, seeing oranguntans and probiscus monkeys, helping with construction work in the village, eating brown sugar pancakes, and cruising down the river at sunset on the last evening. Undesirable elements included sharing their living space with a dozen enormous spiders, eating noodles for breakfast lunch and dinner, and washing themselves in buckets of cold water. This was an adventure none of them is likely to forget in a hurry!

On Monday 7th July we hosted Brtish Cycling to give 90 students the chance to put themselves through the paces and take part in the GB Olympic Cycling talent ID pathway.
Our students were a true credit to themselves and the school throughout the entire morning, showing great perseverence across all the four physical tests they were put up against. Boys completed a two on-bike tests, a 6 second maximum power effort and a 3 minute endurance cycle before completing a standing broad jump before taking on the notorious bleep test.
There were several prizes awarded for students who won the event for their age group. Winners were:
Year 7 - Louis Q (7C), Jack C (7C), Rio G (7N) & Aseda O (7T)
Year 8 - Sadiq B (8C), Kione W (8N) & Leo W (7N)
Year 9 - Fynn J (9K), James E (9M) & Will N (7M)
Several of our students will be invited to take place in a 6 week crash (no literally!) course in track cycling at the Olympic Village Velodrome. Here boys will learn the ins and outs of track cycling and hopefully further progress through the pathway to become an future Olympian! Keep on eye out of the 2032 Olympic Games in Austrilia!
