• Rotary – pads of fingers, circular
movement stimulates, removes dirt/grease.
• Petrissage – on scalp, fingertips, gentle/
firm/even pressure, rotate, rhythmic.

👉🏻Adapt massage techniques for hair and scalp types:

• Long hair – effleurage, rotary on the scalp, avoid tangles.
• Density of hair – firm rotary (thick), light rotary (fine).
• Damaged hair – effleurage, caution, avoid further damage.
• Oily scalp – light rotary, effleurage, avoid stimulating sebaceous gland.
• Dry scalp – firm rotary, stimulating sebaceous gland.
