Many happy returns from the Worshipful Company of Farmers on the 76th Anniversary of the Birthday of Past Master HRH The Princess Royal KG KT GCVO QSO ADC(P), the Master of the Company for the 2001-02 Livery year.

During ‘her year’ HRH created the Jubilee Awards, to honour Her Late Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, for Grants to provide grassroots training for Members of The National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs. Many of those who received this training are now in supervisory or management roles supporting British farming.

Happy Birthday Ma’am.

Also, on the morning of the Lord Mayor's Show, Saturday 14th November, a cooked breakfast will be served for anyone marching or viewing the Parade.

The final two weeks to apply for the Worshipful Company of Farmers' 30th Challenge of Rural Leadership, under the tutelage of Duchy College Rural Business School, which will take place in January 2027 at Dartington Hall, Totnes, Devon. This is the time to speak to anyone whom you think might be interested in participating in the forthcoming course.

As a result of the Worshipful Company of Farmers' Jubilee Awards, Jessica Radnor was able to participate and complete the Basis Reg Ltd course on Principles of Integrated Pest Management. The Jubilee Awards, for grassroots training, are open to Members of the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs.

Well done Jess - and here is her report on the reactions on completing the course:
"Through the kind support of the Worshipful Company of Farmers' Jubilee Scholarship, I was allowed to complete the BASIS classroom series; Principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The course covered a wide range of topics, including arable diseases, weeds, pest and beneficial identification and management, as well as the development of Integrated Pest Management plans.

Since completing the course, I have been able to apply this knowledge within my role as a Farm Advisor working across the Wye and Usk catchments. The training has increased my confidence when discussing crop management and has given me the practical skills to identify pests, weeds and diseases while out on farm visits. As a result, I am able to provide more informed advice, consider a wider range of management options and better support farm businesses in making resilient, evidence-based decisions.

The knowledge gained through this course will also support the educational work I undertake with schools. To hopefully inspire the next generation of industry professionals by being able to include what warning signs we would look out for on the farm and explain the planning that goes on behind the scenes before their food has even begun to grow.

I am incredibly grateful to the Worshipful Company of Farmers for providing me with the opportunity to complete this course. It represents another important stepping stone towards my ambition of becoming a FACTS-qualified advisor in the near future, and I look forward to continuing to apply the knowledge and skills I have gained through the BASIS Principles of IPM course throughout my career."
