⚠ Product Recall for 3D Printed Dragon Fidget Toy sold via eBay

The product presents a serious risk of choking as small parts can easily detach or break off during reasonably foreseeable use. These parts fit entirely within a small parts cylinder and pose a choking risk to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths.

The product has been recalled from customers, and the listing has been removed by the online marketplace (eBay).

Anyone with this product should stop using this product immediately. Contact the distributor you purchased from to request redress. ⚠

🌟FREE virtual sessions on supporting families to transition to school🌟

Transitions are a process, not an event – and how early years settings support families to transition into school makes an important difference to children.

This free session for early educators will give you resources and support to deliver a three-week family learning programme to families in your setting, providing key messages as well as sharing home learning activities about supporting the transition into school.

Settings attending the session will be provided with a PowerPoint presentation, tutor notes and handouts for families to support this important process.

Our next Moving on up sessions:
Tuesday 12 May 6.30pm - 7.30pm bit.ly/4ujffWw

According to National Autistic Society, stimming or self-stimulating behaviour includes (but is not limited to) arm or hand-flapping, finger-flicking, rocking, jumping, spinning or twirling, head-banging, singing, repeating words/phrases and complex body movements.

It includes the repetitive use of an object, such as flicking a rubber band or twirling a piece of string, or repetitive activities involving the senses (such as repeatedly feeling a particular texture).

Unless the person is at risk of harming themselves or others, there’s no need to stop someone from stimming. It’s a great way for them to regulate themselves and can be enjoyable and reduce stress.

You can read more by visiting the National Autistic Society's website here: https://www.autism.org.uk/

Do you have a child starting school reception in September?

Whatever their age, when it comes to speech, it can be confusing knowing what development is typical for your child.

Children develop at different rates, but here are a few examples of what your child would usually be able to do by around 4 years old:

• Listen to storybooks with pictures and talk about the story you’ve read them
• Say most sounds except more difficult sounds like ‘sh’ and ‘r’
• Use sentences that have 4 to 6 words in them, for example ‘I want to play with cars’.
• Start to link 2 sentences together by using ‘and’. For example, ‘I went to the park and I had ice cream’.
• Ask questions using words like ‘what’, ‘where’, and ‘why’
• Start conversations with you and with other people.
• Talk quite smoothly. They don’t repeat the first sound in words or get stuck trying to get a word out.

If you have concerns, or would like reassurance about your child’s development, Talking Bradford is here to help, bringing together support, information and resources for families in the Bradford District.

There are links to trustworthy, helpful websites such as Speech and Language UK, where you can find lots of information about ‘ages and stages’ and what to expect.

There are suggestions of free sessions you can go to with your little one, to help your child learn through stories, songs and play.

If you need extra help, there is also information about support available locally, for example through the Family Hub, health visitor, school nurse or your GP.

If you have any concerns, please ask for help – it’s the best way to help your child become a confident communicator as they grow.
