Holmewood House Prep offers the best of a traditional prep environment, whilst making great strides in preparing their students to explore careers that don’t yet exist.
Participation in the Greenpower Challenge offers the opportunity for students to have hands on experience of engineering and even driving the car themselves. Students are presenting their own TED talks, building their own Tamagotchi and coding their own model vehicles.
The day before our visit the boarding house was awarded Best Boarding House Extension or Refurbishment at the BSA Supporting Excellence Awards 2026.
Caolan Wukics, Head of Boarding is rightfully proud of the real home from home environment the house provides and is able to welcome, full, weekly and flexi boarders to enjoy spending more time at school.
Their recent school production was so popular it had to be double cast to allow as many students as possible to participate; challenging the students to learn two different parts, one in the forefront and one in the chorus. Success in the arts and STEM are just as important as victory on the sports fields and Holmewood House seeks to ensure each student finds a path at which they can excel.

It was a great day at the Boarding Schools' Association AgentsConnect on Tour event in London last week 🎓
It was fantastic to connect with schools and colleagues from across the boarding sector, hear valuable insights and discuss the future of UK boarding education.
As David Walker, Executive Director of the BSA, said:“We are an incredibly resilient sector and offer a great product and service.”
With around 65,000 boarders currently in BSA schools, it was a strong reminder of the continued appeal of boarding education and the importance of collaboration, community and pastoral support across the sector.
