Palliative care
Supported living Services
We offer palliative care at the client's home and hospitals.
If you have an illness that cannot be cured, palliative care makes you as comfortable as possible by managing your pain and other distressing symptoms. It also involves psychological, social and spiritual support for you and your family or carers.
At what stage is palliative care?
After you get a terminal diagnosis, you can have palliative care at any stage in your illness. You can also have palliative care alongside treatments, therapies and medicines aimed at controlling your illness, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Is palliative care the same as end of life care?
While palliative care includes end-of-life care, the key difference is that it can be used at any point along the treatment process. The time spent in palliative care differs from person to person depending on the illness and the type of support they need.
Why do doctors recommend palliative care?
Palliative care can be helpful at any stage of illness and is best provided soon after a person is diagnosed. In addition to improving quality of life and helping with symptoms, palliative care can help patients understand their choices for medical treatment.
How long does end of life palliative care last?
It also supports family and carers during the final stages, as well as after the person has died. End of life care can last for just a few days or weeks, but for many people it may continue for months or even years.
