Summer learning doesn't have to mean extra worksheets or hours of study.
Many children return to school in September having forgotten some of the skills they worked hard to build during the year.
This is often referred to as the "Summer Slide."
The good news? A little learning can go a long way.
Reading regularly, practising times tables, exploring new hobbies, visiting museums, and having meaningful conversations can all help children maintain important skills over the holidays.
Swipe through for simple ideas to keep your child engaged this summer and help them return to school feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn.

Worried about the Phonics Screening Check?
Not every child who struggles with the check has a long-term reading difficulty.
Often, they simply need a little more practice, support, and confidence.
The sooner you act, the easier it is to close the gap.

SATs are over β but Year 7 comes with new challenges many children arenβt prepared for.
Many children who did well in Year 6 begin to struggle β not because they lack ability, but because of gaps in skills and confidence.
The good news? This transition can be prepared for.
Our Year 7 Readiness Programme is designed to strengthen key maths and English skills, build confidence, and help your child adapt to independent learning before September.
A little preparation now can make a big difference later.

Consistency beats intensity β especially with reading π
Just 10 minutes a day can build stronger comprehension than one long session at the weekend.
Why? Because regular reading helps children process, retain, and understand what they read over time.
DM us "READ" to see how EGTβs comprehension classes build on this.

π Is your child in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2?
You're not always sure if they're where they should be. The school says they're doing fine β but something feels off. Maybe they're struggling with reading. Maybe they can't sit and focus. Maybe you just want to make sure they don't fall behind before Year 3.
That feeling is more common than you think.
At EGT, we work with children aged 5β7 to build the foundations that make everything else easier β reading, writing, number sense and the confidence to keep going when something feels hard.
Here's what you get as a parent:
β
A child who makes visible, measurable progress
β
Weekly feedback so you always know where they are
β
Clear guidance on how to support your child at home β
no research required
β
One less thing to worry about
You don't need to figure this out alone β and you
don't need to wait until it becomes a bigger problem.
