Are we really listening to what our students need to stay motivated in school? 🤔

A recent study by EdWeek Research Center shows that when it comes to keeping students engaged, there's a clear disconnect between what teachers think works and what students actually want. While teachers suggest more career-focused learning experiences and field trips, 35% of students said the ability to redo assignments would make a big difference. 🚀 This is where gameful learning experiences come in! With the chance to try again and again until they succeed, games can be a powerful tool to keep students motivated and engaged. The ongoing strikes by over 100,000 teachers across England, Wales, and Scotland have affected schools and students across the UK. Teachers in Scotland will begin a series of rolling strikes lasting 20 days, while teachers in Wales have already taken action on March 2. In England and Wales, teachers are striking for the next two days, March 15 and 16. With thousands of schools throughout the country closed or partially closed on multiple days in February and March, the impact of the strikes is being felt nationwide.

We had an assumption that most people knew what gamification was. When we spoke to people from the edu sector at the education show a few weeks back, we were surprised it wasn’t well known.

Gamification is the process of using game mechanics, design and principles in non-game contexts, such as education. We will be sharing more info and examples to help others gain better understanding of the concept.
