Been a little quiet on here and had some new followers… so thought I’d do another ‘about me’ post! 👋🏽
I’m Vicki, mum of two lively boys. I used to work as a teacher in a special needs primary school until I left after having babies and finding the commute across London long, and wanting to spend more time with my boys. 👩👦👦
I started Hip Hop R’N’Babies classes last November after becoming tired of listening to nursery rhymes in the baby and toddler classes I attended with my boys. I know how important it is for children to listen to these so you will still hear few in our classes but I also know, from my experience in special education, that as long as activities were well thought out, fun, repetitive and accessible, children would learn and it would be meaningful to them. 🧸🎳🎲
‘If you’re having fun, they’re having fun’ is something I have always believed in so by introducing songs that I enjoyed listening to alongside games and activities (rather than nursery rhymes) made it more enjoyable for me, which I felt the children thrived off. This is the feeling I wanted to create within my classes and that is why our playlists are full of Hip Hop and R’n’B tracks you will want to sing and dance along to. 🎶🎤🕺🏻
