β€œWhatever your reason for holding on to resentments, I know this for sure: There is none worth the price you pay in lost time.” - Oprah Winfrey

This quote by Oprah Winfrey is one of my favourites because it reminds us that time is short and holding onto resentments, especially in your relationship can cause unimaginable damage because we cannot get time back. Don't let yesterday make today pass you by. Forgive, wipe the slate clean.

❓ Did you know that 42% of marriages globally end in divorce, with the average UK divorce age being 43.9 for women and 46.4 for men?

Unforntaly, statistics show a decline in marriage rates and an increase in age at marriage due to a number of factors including lack of communication. I truly believe that communication is the key to a healthy relationship but only if it is done correctly, by listening and really trying to empathise with your partner. ❀️

To be successful in your relationships you need a healthy dose of maturity, forgiveness and a very thick skin.

Empathy is everything and when you start to put yourself in your partner's shoes you will start to treat them the way you want to be treated. πŸ’›

✨ Being transparent helps foster authenticity in your relationship.

You and your spouse are giving each other permission to be your true selves warts and all, with the tacit promise that you will be non-judgemental. πŸ’›

⭐️ Did you know your belief system can shape the way your marriage turns out?

If you love yourself, are confident, are positive in life, happy, and optimistic, these attributes will dictate how you respond to challenges and conflict in your relationship, and those same attributes can also create positive energy around your relationship. It, therefore, behoves you to work at being the best version of yourself in order to write and create your best relationship story. πŸ’›

To be loved deeply, knowing someone has your back, cares about you and is rooting for you, makes you feel strong and courageous enough to take on the world. It gives you the confidence that all is well. πŸ’›

Don't waste your time on the past when you have the opportunity to focus your energy on making today your best day ever, don't let yesterday make today pass you by. Forgive, wipe your slate clean and start again thankful for seeing a brand new day. πŸ’›

A problem shared is a problem halved and when you communicate the issues you are facing with your partner, you give them an opportunity to support you in whichever way you may need. πŸ’›

Communication really is so important in any relationship, as it allows you to effectively share feelings, wants, needs, opinions and expectations. Communication will help you navigate your relationship without the fear of rejection or the fear of upsetting or even losing your partner.

⭐️ This is one of my favourite quotes because it reminds us that forgiveness has to be a daily act.

Tit for tat will be a never-ending story if you don't and as we grow, we have to stop being so offended by little things and have to open ourselves to empathy by placing ourselves in our partner's shoes and trying to see things from their perspective.

We are all fallible as human beings and would like others to accommodate and forgive us when we get it wrong, so likewise we should do to others what we want to be done to us.

Everyday practice on how to wipe the slate clean and start again πŸ’›
