Authentic Connections

The beauty of traveling is being able to allow oneself to pause daily routines and feel different cultures, beliefs, traditions whilst immersing in the unknown, simply to discover that in everything that pulsates there is a deep desire to thrive.On my journeys I learn at every moment that the aim is to feel a sense of connection, not just to a nation, a family, a movement, a nucleus, a partnership (this is also valid), but the belonging that leads to real freedom is found in understanding the temporary nature of things.

A crucial point for this feeling of profound connection, which I have found at time to be missing is the lack of authenticity in one’s communication style. Authentic communication, when well-developed inspires a feeling of lightness and eliminates fear - the fear of making mistakes, the fear of falling, the fear of delving deep into the unknown, the fear of speaking one’s inner truth.

One single “truth” is an illusion, and when we start developing an authentic manner of communicating, we will no longer resist the authenticity in others, thus real connection is established and freedom experienced.

The most authentic expression I admire are in those who are successful in life. Yes, I admire success, but not in titles or status (those are good to have) but the success I’m referring to is indicated in people who do not measure themselves based on others, they simply are who they are.

They are people who communicate with firmness and docility as and when needed, consequently, they are experts at building healthy connections with others.

They are naturally beautiful, but don’t concern themselves excessively about their body image, they understand that beauty is expressed through their irresistible positive energy.

They are healthy but they most definitely do not stick to restricted diets or regimes, they eat with purpose and savour their nutrients.

Discipline for them is just a concept, because they have no need to impose onto themselves inflexibility, their habits are already automated into doing what is best for themselves and those around them.

They have a deep sense and connection with nature and accept its creation as a wondrous expression of universal wisdom.

These people are among us. They are creative, driven, they standout, they are at times a neighbour, a friend, a professional, a family member or a well-known figure in society.

Being as authentic as these people is a challenge for most of us, because we are constantly bombarded by soo much superficiality that at times some of us don’t remember that we already have all we need within.

These authentic people remember and their existence reminds us to simply stay connected with ourselves at – all times – then, the external connections will be a happy consequence.

#6 Daily reflection on authenticity
No matter what position we hold, we all need other people. Now is a good time of the year to reflect on friendships and relationships in general. The emotions triggered by those around us is a great way of measuring how we really are within.

I have recently reached-out to some incredibly inspirational people and have received so much encouragement and guidance in return, that I could not help but question myself on why it took me so long to start acknowledging that; wisdom & knowledge isn’t restricted to the giants of the planet, such as the thinkers and doers publicised . There are people currently imprinting on this earth, so much goodness, and they are open to connecting with those who want to do the same.

So, my conclusion to the questioning was that I was simply not ready until now. The fact is, that unless we allow ourselves time and reduce external negative influencing to the max, we will remain blind to the capabilities already found within and consequently will not see those around us at their full potential.

So, my recommendation would be, dare to be different from the status quo (not unnatural) but authentically yourself with all your quirks and all — and remember, connect only with those that bring out the best in you whilst paving a path for those who want to join on this journey! Connection is important, but what is more important is an authentic connection with yourself.

There is something so freeing about speaking the truth. The truth that is within, and is not tainted by any form of aggression or pain. The truth that is felt in the gut and makes the heart pulse faster at the mear thought of being withheld.

We all hold truths within, sadly they are not expressed out of the fear of rejection. If I could eliminate that fear with my words, I would, but instead I will confirm, yes! If you speak your truth you will be rejected by many. But guess what?! In the grand scheme of things, others opinions are irrelevant at this stage and if you are on the right path, you will always find a way into a better form of living.

Time here in earth is so short to be voluntarily imprisoned by the opinion of others. Those who reject you do not understand, let them be and find your purpose whilst communicating your authentically.

#4 Daily reflection on authenticity

The beauty of our uniqueness is usually overlooked with a mould perception coming from external validation. We all come for the movements made by our ancestry.

Awards, ceremonies, applauses are wonderful acknowledgments of accomplishments, specially when accompanied by the feeling of self-realisation, the feeling of balance and purpose.

But! If the external validation is the main factor that feeds your sense of purpose, I invite you to challenge your yourself to reflect critically & objectively on the following questions: What is my worth? Am I receiving as much as I give? Are my actions motivating those who are going to come after me? Would my Ancestors be proud of the value I give to myself?

Don’t be afraid of the answers, be proud of yourself for taking up the challenge - not many people have the guts to do so.

3 # Daily Reflection on Authenticity

The key characteristics that I have noted in those who score high in the authenticity scale are:
- Are capable of spontaneously laughing at themselves and have a great sense of humor.
- When surrounded by acceptance they gravitate towards empowering and encouraging others to be themselves.
- When faced with criticism, they become silent. I used to wonder if this is out of fear, but actually their silence is an expression of respect towards the limitations of others.

To express your most authentic self, there is no need to attempt to change peoples perceptions of you. We are all a little different, and that’s OK. Those who are awake, will accept you. Those asleep, well, let their dreams guide their perceptions.

Strive to connect only with those who bring out the best in you, it’s the simplest path towards developing what you have to offer.

A question came to mind. If you’re in the process of striving towards your dreams, and you need to become someone other than your authentic self, is it really a dream? Sounds more like a nightmare to me!

Sure, discipline and self-development are essential, because no one is born 100% equipped with all the tools necessary for the accomplishment of their life purpose, and this is not because we are not perfect, it’s because progress is simply the natural order of things.

Therefore, I invite you to ask yourself, are you at ease and communicating with the world with your highest energy levels and have a feeling of belonging and purpose. If not, how about simply stopping, re-evaluating the real intentions behind your ambition, and re-directing yourself to a more authentic way of being.

It’s time to stop hiding behind others. Authenticity means being yourself, at times soft and feminine at times ignited by a masculine energy. Going with the flow consciously and with objectivity.

We are all seeking the same thing, how are you manoeuvring through this journey?! However it may be, ensure you always remember what you came to contribute towards this planet!
