The focus Topics of the Month “Black History & Halloween”

Our Butterflies celebrated Halloween early this week giving all our butterflies the opportunity to dress up in fun and wonderful costumes. They decorated pumpkins and created ghosts. We read stories about Halloween and sang nursery ryhmes.

On Tuesday we also did our all Black Day as a representation of Black History Month.

Our WOW words of the month is “Halloween & Black History”

Halloween means:

Halloween, contraction of All Hallows' Eve, a holiday observed on October 31, the evening before All Saints' Day. The celebration marks the day before the Western Christian feast of All Saints and initiates the season of all hallow tide, which lasts three days and concludes with All Souls' Day.

We also read stories based on different strong historical figures i.e Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman and many more.

They also learnt about Mr Garrett Morgan- The creator of the traffic light.

Our Butterflies did hand prints in different shades representing their friendship groups and Family.🤎

This week the children continued to learn their song for the Autumn Term. They have started to explore leaf art.  

What Happens in autumn?
In autumn, you will notice that the leaves on the trees start to change colour. Before the leaves fall to the ground you will notice that, they change red, yellow, orange, and brown.
 
Our WOW word of the week is “Friendship”

·        This week our Butterflies wanted to do art using different kitchen food. So we decided to use different types of pasta to design their names. They did this in groups in order to build confidence and friendships.

·        In our baby room we used Music time and Messy play to build friendships, it also gave them the chance to be free and creative in their own way.

Hey Butterflies 🦋

This week the children have been engaged in learning a song for their graduation and doing activates to finalise their scrapbook’s.

It is going to be sad to see our pre-school leavers leave, however were proud of all their accomplishments throughout out their time here with us at Little Butterfly. Some of our children have been wuth us since the baby room. It is amazing to see their growth, and how much their confidence has developed over the time they have spent with us.

The entire Little Butterfly Family would like to wish them good luck on their new journey in primary school and hope they continue to flourish and develop throughout their years. We hope you all continue to be the amazing leaders we know you are.

To our wonderful and supportive parents, we thank you for trusting us with the care and development of your amazing children. Keep being the rock and strong hold behind them. Thank you also for our wonderful presents.

You all will truly be missed.

Happy Friday Butterflies 🦋

This week the children have been looking at different fruits and vegetables that helps different parts of our bodies to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They were shown a step-by-step guide of what to do before handling food e.g. washing your hands and cleaning the surface so we don’t catch germs. The children were also shown the correct way to hold a knife when travelling with it or when not in use.

The children were engaged in taking part in preparing their own snack, which included cutting their fruits and vegetables, as well as buttering their crackers and making jelly for their deserts.

The children where shown how to hold the fruit with one hand while using the other hand to cut. Using both hands together for an activity requires bilateral coordination & integration, which will develop over a period of time with regular practice. This falls under the EYFS physical development.

The children then took part in their PE lesson with staff. This is used to encourage the children to exercise regular in order to maintain a healthy body. The children were fully engaged and remained focused over a long period. PE is something we do with the children once a week, as sport and physical activity can boost our ability to cope with challenges and our resilience. We do it not only to encourage exercises but also to get the children prepared for when they go off to school, as PE is a part of the national curriculum.

This week the children have been engaged in our friendly topic, Cultural Differences and Diversity during our circle time.

 Over the weekend it was sad to hear that England lost but even worst to hear about the racial slander that the England players had to endure.

Both teams worked hard to get to the finals, worked even harder throughout the game however, Italy was the stronger team, and was able to beat England on penalties.

The staff and children had a discussion about different cultures and what makes us different. We also had a discussion about the practice of equality and including our friends from different social ethnic background/gender. 

The children choose a different friend who they do not always play with to encourage, play and help throughout the week. They enjoyed exploring different activities together. 

Our WOW word of the week is “Friendly” please continue to encourage your child/children to be friendly, supportive and to treat others fairly.
