Starting to think about planning for the summer term 1?

The birds nest makes an excellent invitation to play.

However, resources alone won’t support playfulness.

As educators, we need to remember to be playful, be silly and to follow the lead and motivations of our pupils.

We also need to remember the importance of stepping back and observing and waiting as pupils come up with and pursue their own ideas.

The Springboard Curriculum has been published and is available to buy online, just follow the link in our bio!

It is a play-based curriculum that explains the what, why and how of supporting pupils with severe, complex and profound learning needs to learn through joyful interactions with the world around them.

With Valentine’s coming up, why not try a Valentine’s Sensory Tray?

We use themes to inspire us to design highly motivating activities that inspire play.

As educators, we follow the learning lead of each pupil and use the resources creatively to follow their interests.

Flick through to see what educators can do in this activity and how pupils can learn and develop.

We share more planning ideas on our blog (link in bio) and in The Springboard Curriculum (available to purchase as an immediate digital download).

The Springboard Curriculum has been written for all educators (therapists and teachers)at any stage in their career.

We had this feedback from a trainee teacher and look forward to hearing how she applies the curriculum framework in her own classroom!

Can you guess what we’re going to be making this half term?

Fun interactions with food that don’t require a child to eat are an important component of supporting children with feeding challenges and changing negative experiences into more positive ones.

Check out our blog mince pies and other pastry!

A paddling pool was on our classroom must haves list.

Ball pools can be expensive and take up a lot of space in the classroom.

A paddling pool provides you with much more flexible and affordable use.

We fill it with different objects inspired by the planning theme.

Cushions, balls, inflatables, balloons, fabric all provide endless opportunities to play.

Climb in and you get a full body sensory experience.

If you’re looking for new resources for your classroom, we have blog posts of our favourite ones and how we use them to inspire learning through play.

Look what happens when you cross the bucket with a high powered uv lamp!

We have a blog post that shares examples of how Gina Davies’ the bucket can facilitate learning across each of the curriculum areas; cognition, communication, physical and sensory and personal, social and emotional development.
