How much does it cost to become an airline pilot and how do people pay for it?

How long does it take to become an airline pilot?

I personally went from 0 flight hours to flying passengers in 23 months.

However, in America, pilots will need 1500 flight hours to be eligible to join airlines.

Of these 1500 hours, some will need to be on certain aircraft (of certain weights/jet engine aircraft etc), before pilots are eligible.

So I’ve been busy writing and included all of these points within this new book. It’s spent the last couple of weeks with an editor (and not a cheap one, so let me know if it doesn’t read well).

I hope everyone is having an amazing start to their 2022! The industry is recovering very nicely.

It’s no lie that the aviation industry has been on its knees for the past 18 months. However, the industry is showing signs of recovery, despite Covid being ever present in our lives.

It can take as little as 18 months to qualify as a commercial pilot and then a further 4-6 months to become ‘line trained’ (trained as an operating commercial pilot, flying passengers).

With this potential 2 year training time, do you think now could be a good time to begin looking in to your pilot training, to capitalise on the recovery and expansion that is being predicted?
