While Summer Is Fun, Learning Doesn't Have to Stop

Last September, Sarah noticed something was wrong.

Her son Ethan had just returned from an amazing summer filled with family trips, beach days, sleepovers, and endless fun.

But when school resumed, reading assignments that had once been easy suddenly felt difficult.

He struggled to stay focused.

His reading speed had slowed.

His confidence dropped.

And within a few weeks, Sarah found herself spending extra time helping him catch up on skills he had already mastered before the holidays.

Unfortunately, Ethan isn't alone.

Every summer, many children experience learning loss.

The reading stamina, comprehension skills, vocabulary, and critical thinking abilities they worked so hard to build during the school year begin to fade when they go unused for weeks.

For children preparing for important school transitions, entrance exams, or a new grade level, this setback can be even more challenging.

That's why we created the Summer Read, Think and Shine Programme.

Designed specifically to keep children academically on track while still enjoying their summer break.

✅ Just 4 weeks

✅ 3 sessions per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday)

✅ Only 1 hour per day

✅ Small group classes (maximum 5 students)

✅ Fun, engaging, and interactive activities with age grade

Through carefully designed reading comprehension lessons, critical thinking exercises, and reading stamina activities, students continue strengthening essential skills without sacrificing their summer fun.

By September, they'll return to school feeling confident, prepared, and ready for the new term.

Because the goal isn't to turn summer into school.

It's to prevent learning loss while helping your child stay sharp, confident, and ahead.

Limited spaces available. Once a group reaches 5 students, registration closes. Private sessions also available.

Give your child the perfect balance of summer fun and academic growth. Enroll today before all 5 spots are filled.

Let me tell you about my 11+ Reading Comprehension class.

If your child is in Year 4 or Year 5 and struggles with reading comprehension, this class is designed specifically to build their confidence, skills, and exam technique for the 11+.

In each session, your child is taught proven strategies to tackle all types of comprehension texts — fiction, non-fiction, and poetry — in the GL format.

They learn how to understand texts properly and answer questions accurately under exam conditions.

Each group is kept intentionally small (only 5 pupils), so every child receives attention, support, and personalised guidance.

The class is interactive, engaging, and structured to build steady progress week by week.

Once you register, all lesson materials will be sent to you in advance.

You will also receive:
✓ Feedback after every lesson
✓ A replay of each session
✓ Weekly homework to reinforce learning
✓ Monthly assessments to track progress

This Friday from 4:00–5:00pm, we are opening a new small group for just five Year 5 pupils (GL format).

Fee: £10 per week / £40 per month

This is for parents who want structured support that builds real exam confidence — not guesswork or last-minute cramming.

If you prefer one-to-one support, limited spaces are also available.

Inference is one of the hardest skills tested in the 11+ exam.

Many children can read a passage fluently… but still struggle with inference questions.

Why?

Because inference questions require children to:

✓ read between the lines
✓ find hidden clues in the text
✓ understand feelings, motives, and intentions
✓ support answers using evidence — not guesses

For example:

The passage says:

"Oliver stared at the untouched lunchbox and quietly pushed it away."

The text never says Oliver is upset.

But a strong inference reader can work out how he might be feeling using clues from the passage.

This is why children preparing for the 11+ often find inference questions tricky.

The good news? Inference is a skill that can be taught, practised, and mastered.

How does your child find inference questions — easy, tricky, or somewhere in between?
