It’s been a fun and very busy week!

Thanks for having me back .uk for another 3 fantastic workshops - making botanical art, Tetrapak illustrations and suminagashi prints this time. Always a pleasure to meet and chat to students from a wide range of disciplines, and to give them a chance to switch off and relax with some creative fun!

A bit late posting these - following the week of our plant still life activity, I let the children’s imaginations grow a bit wild, creating imaginitive plants inspired by the beautiful work of 🪻🌵🪷 This was also an exercise in creating imaginitive shadow by layering coloured pencils. Amazed not only by their impressive creativity but also by how well they listened and put this technique to use!

First 9 drawings by Tuesday crew (aged 9-12) and the rest by Monday crew (aged 6-9) 👏👏

Here’s a little something I drew for the perfectionists out there. Take risks and embrace mistakes - the worst that can happen is you make something you don’t like or reach a dead end, and the best that could happen is you discover something wonderful and exciting!

Not a coincidence that I also chose to do this in the first page of a my new sketch book 📕✍️

It all started with a pile of junk 📦🧻🧴🏺📚🪆🥫

My favourite kind of art is the type which takes you on a journey to an unknown destination 🌆

Some photos from a few weeks back - the concentration and focus was incredible 🤩

More of these magical nature pieces from the Monday and St Paul’s after school clubs last week 😍🍁🪶🌔 there’s something special about the fact they are temporary - no glue, no tape and everything returned to nature.

Here are the scenes:
1. A fox and a rabbit having a nighttime picnic
2. Insects toasting marshmallows on a fire
3. 3 boats sailing towards an island
4. A cottage in the woods
5. A treehouse in the forest

Just some of the wonderful forest animal drawings across all sessions and age groups from 6-12 using pen and chalk to create drawings packed with texture - each one totally unique! You can feel the feathers of the crows, the spikes of the hedgehogs and the furry foxes! 🐦‍⬛🦔🦊🌳

There are two new classes this term - a Monday after school club for ages 7-9, and a home-ed group on Wednesdays, both of which have been a total pleasure and great getting to know new children!

Food is… family, home, childhood, holidays, tradition, health, love and so much more!!

Hearing the stories behind these recipes and watching the adults bringing these to life was something else 😍 from shepherd’s pie to an Italian Easter cake, pumpkin pie, dumplings, a Colombian soup, tofu, and a tomato galette!

Monday crew and St Paul’s after school club (ages 7-9) did a wonderful job planting, growing and harvesting plenty of tasty vegetables on their ‘allotments’, in addition to installing greenhouses, sheds, and some very scary scarecrows!! 🧑‍🌾🌽🎃🐦‍⬛

There were some beautiful watercolour veggies painted too! 🎃🍎🥬🧅

This will be a truly inspiring and unique experience for the children and a fantastic opportunity for hands-on experimentation!! 🧬✍️🦠🎨🔬🧫💥

There will be two identical (in theory!) week long camps, running from 29th July - 2nd August and 19th - 23rd August.
