🚨 Announcing DYKWYK?’s Virtual Summer High School Fellowship
Applications open May 18.
The DYKWYK? Fellowship is a virtual summer program for high school students based in the U.S. focused on news literacy, disinformation, and understanding how information shapes public life.
Running from late June to early August, the program brings together a cohort of only ten fellows to explore how information is created, distributed, and contested across digital ecosystems - while developing advanced critical thinking and media analysis skills through guided sessions, discussion, and applied work.
This is designed for students who want to engage seriously with the modern information landscape, think more rigorously about current affairs, and deepen how they understand public discourse.

✨ Workshop Recap | x Do You Know What You Know? (DYKWYK?) - .wyk
I recently had the opportunity to lead a workshop for Flete East London, an incredible group helping young athletes (ages 11–18) develop their skills both in and outside of their sport.
Representing my organization, Do You Know What You Know? (DYKWYK?) - .wyk, I spoke with them about:
- Self-care during menstruation and the challenges that come with it
- Confidence and self-image, especially in athletic environments
- The ways social media can impact mental health and self-esteem
- Media literacy - and how to spot misinformation and disinformation online
The athletes were so engaged, thoughtful, and full of insight. We had meaningful conversations, lots of laughter, and interactive activities that made the session feel alive and collaborative.
This experience reminded me why I started Do You Know What You Know? (DYKWYK?) - .wyk - to create spaces where people can learn to think critically, build confidence, and understand the information shaping their world.
💡 What I learned from this workshop:
• When young people realize they have the power and capability to recognize mis- and disinformation, they light up - they feel empowered to think critically and take control of what they consume.
• Young people want to talk about the pressures of social media - they just need safe, open spaces to do it.
• Conversations about topics like menstruation and confidence are essential, and when handled with honesty, they spark real engagement.
• Media literacy isn’t just about news - it’s about identity, wellbeing, and how we see ourselves in a digital world.
• Youth-led discussions are powerful. Listening is just as important as teaching.
I’m so grateful to Flete East London () for welcoming me and to all of the athletes who participated so wholeheartedly.
If you’d like to collaborate on a media literacy or digital wellbeing workshop, please reach out - I’d love to connect.

(Someone described me as a “media literacy baddie” - and I’m keeping that title 😎.)
A big thanks to Heaven Bowman for inviting me to speak to this amazing group - you are a fantastic leader!
