🕯️ Remembering Skopje, 1963
On July 26, 1963, a devastating 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Skopje, destroying nearly 80% of the city and killing over 1,000 people. The clock on the old railway station stopped at 5:17 am - a silent witness to the tragedy.

Among the victims was Danica Ručigaj (1934–1963), the first Macedonian poetess, whose voice brought emotional depth and elegance to a young nation’s literature.

Despite the loss, the world responded with overwhelming aid, and Skopje rose again - becoming a symbol of international solidarity.

Let us remember not only the fallen but the art, resilience, and unity that followed. 💔📚🌍
