Here are some tips to maximise the effects of Cable Side Lateral Raises as one of your shoulder workouts!⁠ πŸ’ͺ🏼⁠⁠

βœ”οΈ Front Raises: Using the EZ bar for this workout is more comfortable on your wrists than doing the exercise with a straight barbell, and hence it is more suitable for beginners.

This is the overall mindset you need when you go to the gym. It can be tempting to focus more on the number on the weights and doing what you have to do to get it up when you start to reach failure 🎯

The main idea you require to establish before you start is that you’re there to train the chest, not bench x number of pounds. You want to focus on quadriceps, not leg press every plate in the weight room. The weight has to be the means to an end, and that β€œend” is working the muscle πŸ’ͺ🏼

Seesaw Bench Press: A sneaky exercise that has so much more going on even that meets the eye πŸ’ͺ🏼
⁠⠀
The objective is to mimic a real seesaw which is one side up while the other goes down with the constant movement πŸ”₯
⁠⠀
This allows you to maximize the all-important element of eccentric induced co-contractions, which are a more efficient way to exercise muscles than concentric, due to rules of contralateral movement patterns and reciprocal muscle activation 😲

With this Seesaw Bench Press, your right arm will also want to bend when lowering your left arm βœ”οΈ

To counter it and keep the right arm fully extended, you need to essentially press against the load, just like pulling and pushing. One arm is bringing the weight down and one arm is pushing the weight up and keeping it steady 😎 ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
By keeping the right side up or vise versa, contract and squeeze the chest, shoulders, and triceps, this creates a contralateral activation of in the back, rear delts, and biceps for the left side that remains up πŸ€―β β €
⁠⠀
This produces max eccentric-induced co-contraction which translates to stronger concentric, due to the fact that the back muscles release on the eccentric, this allows max concentric firing on your chest, shoulders, and triceps area πŸ’―

βœ”οΈ One-Arm Dumbbell Preacher Curls
β€’ Rest your arm on the support pad, with your triceps near the top and your elbow midway down the pad.
β€’ Grip the dumbbell with an underhand grip at shoulder width.
β€’ Curl the dumbbell in towards your chin and upper chest in a single smooth arc. Hold for a count of one while squeezing your biceps.
β€’ Lower the dumbbell by extending your arms back to the starting position.
β€’ Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch to your other arm.

βœ”οΈ Hammer Curls
β€’ Grab a pair of dumbbells and let them hang at your arm’s length next to your sides with your palms facing your thighs.
β€’ Without moving your upper arms, bend your elbows and curl the dumbbells as close to your shoulders as you can.
β€’ Pause, then slowly lower the weight back to the starting position.
β€’ Each time you return to the starting position, completely straighten your arms.

✨ Both of these exercises focus on building your biceps, particularly the biceps peak ✨

Most people will go light on this movement, but you can perform it for moderate to high reps as part of your upper-body or arms-focused workout πŸ’―

Here's a good ! πŸ’―

There are plenty of glute-strengthening exercises out there that can get your butt into shape, but one of the most effective is the lateral squat walk with a resistance band πŸ‘‡πŸ»

1: Start by attaching a resistance band to each of your legs (or ankle)

2: Stand with your feet a little more than shoulder-width apart.

3: Get into a squat position, knees at roughly a 45-degree angle, and walk sideways. Take 5 to 10 steps to the left, then right, keeping your knees bent and maintaining resistance on the band throughout.

Repeat. Try keeping your arms outstretched in front of you, which will provide balance as you do the exercise 🦡🏻

Feel free to challenge yourself more by using resistance bands or weights for your exercises. But remember to perfect your form first before stepping it up! ✨
