ILR SETTLEMENT UPDATE!
The Times has today reported, backed by two government sources, that there COULD BE a possibility of those already inside the UK being exempted from the prolonged ILR settlement changes.
The trade being discussed: you still settle at 5 years, but no access to benefits until 3 to 4 years after ILR.
Personally, I think this would be a brilliant trade and fair as well. Most of us never came here for benefits anyway.
No 10 year wait, no goalposts moving, your original timeline stays intact. You just wait a little longer for public funds most people were never going to claim.
Nothing is final, and with a new PM on the way this could still change. But for the first time in a year, the direction looks like it is turning in your favour. Let’s hope for the best!
