Self-sponsorship is NOT as some make it sound.

For those who have actually gone down the self-sponsorship route:

β€’ What was your experience like?
β€’ What challenges did you face or didn’t think about?

Whether your experience has been positive or negative, please share it below.

Another Innovator Founder Endorsement Secured.. πŸŽ‰
And this one nearly didn't happen!

Meet "Mr. H"; Technical and management background. Knew about his particular industry inside out. Came to us not with a ready-made idea, but with a skillset, a genuine understanding of a real problem, and the commitment to see this route through properly.

We worked with him from day one. The idea conceptualisation, the direction, the application; all of it built together from the ground up.οΏ½
But despite our best efforts, his first endorsement application still came back rejected.

Score: 58.24%. Needed 70%.

It is not that they submit too few. It is where the letters come from.

Kent University Students and those living around Canterbury, please don’t ignore this πŸ‘‡

1/
At least two people have passed away and 11 others are seriously ill following an outbreak of invasive meningococcal disease linked to the University of Kent in Canterbury. One of those who passed away was a University of Kent student. Public health teams are involved, close contacts are being identified, and antibiotics are being arranged for some students.

2/
Meningococcal disease is rare, but it is also serious, can become life threatening very quickly, and can cause meningitis and septicaemia. UKHSA says children and young adults, particularly university students, remain at risk, and the disease can be devastating, life changing, and sometimes deadly.

3/
From the university of Kent update, they have confirmed that:
there will be no in-person assessments this week, campuses remain open, students should keep checking their emails, schools will contact students directly with alternative arrangements, and support is available for those who need it.

So if you are at Kent, do not rely only on reposts or rumours.
Please check your university email and follow official university instructions closely.

4/
Why students are specifically being warned:

University settings create the kind of environment where infections can spread more easily because people live closely together, socialise a lot, and may dismiss early symptoms as flu, tiredness, or even a hangover. UKHSA has specifically warned that young adults and university students remain a key risk group.

5/
Please take the symptoms seriously, especially if you are in Canterbury or studying at Kent.

Symptoms can include:
fever, severe headache, vomiting, stiff neck, rash, confusion, sensitivity to light, extreme sleepiness, and in severe cases seizures.

Please visit/call your GP or nhs if you need medical attention.

6/
One more important point.

This does not mean every Kent student should panic.
But it does mean everyone should be more alert over the next few days, especially those in shared accommodation, large social circles, or anyone who may have been around affected groups. Public health teams are tracing contacts and arranging support, while the university is updating students and staff directly.
