SUZIE'S STORY: For many neurodiverse young people, school can be very overwhelming, friendships challenging and everyday life testing. Yet, all young people just want to be accepted and have the space to be themselves whilst they navigate and develop through life.

I know that with the right support, love and understanding these young people will make it in life and they will shine.

SUZIE'S STORY : Suzie represents a 12 year old girl, sharing her own experiences in a mainstream secondary school.

By creating these videos I hope to bring awareness to some of the challenges neurotypical girls face on a daily basis. All her stories are based on real experiences.

I was the child who never sat still.

The one in motion from morning till night.
The one who needed constant entertainment, speed, and thrills.
The one being reminded that furniture wasn’t for gymnastics and told, over and over, to go and run around outside.

I was the child who discovered a family friend’s table wobbled.
The child who got sent out of class for jumping instead of sitting.

Yes — that was me.

So I understand, deep in my bones, how powerful movement can be.
Not as a distraction from fun or learning, but as the key to it.

When the body is allowed to move, the mind can open.
When energy has somewhere to go, confidence grows.
When we work with the need for motion instead of against it, incredible things happen.

Today I’m the one channelling that energy into helping others whilst participanting in competitive sport making sure I reach my goals.

Movement isn’t the problem.
For many children, it’s the pathway.

I see it again and again: after movement, everything is easier.

Children with ADHD and many other SEND profiles use movement to regulate their nervous systems. Once their bodies feel safer and more organised, they can listen, think, and cope.

What looks like “can’t sit still” is often “trying to get ready to learn.”

If you’d like, I can adapt the tone to match your voice or your page – more advocacy-led, more professional, or more gentle and relatable.

Here's how I come up with ideas for Imagination Explorers.

Ideas don’t arrive fully formed. I grow them by getting out into fresh air, letting my nervous system settle, and giving thoughts space to land. Then I bring in gentle structure, a plan, a framework, a next step, whilst leaving room for spontaneity and creative leaps.

This balance is especially powerful for SEND children and creative thinkers. Regulation first, clarity next, and from there ideas can become something real.
