We have been trying from all around the world! I was born in Peru and when I was little I had access to tropical and exotic fruit almost all year around. This week I tried to give them that experience to the children that attend my setting. They love exploring new textures and flavours “is it a dragon inside the dragon fruit Katy?” “No, it’s a dragon egg! We are going to grow dragons inside out tummies!” - I love their imagination! “Katy the sugar canes looks like bamboo, we are going to be like pandas 🐼 eating bamboo!”

Sensorial resources as home made slime is packed with plenty of benefits. It gives the children the opportunity to develop their eye coordination as well as pre-writing skills. It provides them with a world full of creativity where imagination can develop on hand with language and communication skills. They become calmer and very curious about all the possibilities that slide provides. They have spend hours this week focusing on their very own creations. I love when children have the opportunity to be creative and I love it even more when resources allow them to do so. When we stop telling them what to do and instead we invite them to imagine what they could be is when those lovely little concentrated faces appear! Then, those problem-solving skills develop naturally 😊

Choosing a Christmas tree can be really good fun! This year they chose a small one for adults but it was as tall as each of them! The best of all was that they managed to carry it on their own all the way home! Baubles, tinsel and their handmade decorations were then added. Yes, it might not look perfect, but it was a tree of their own creation and the result was made by the collaboration of all of them as a team. We are getting very excited about Christmas 🎄 ✨❤️🤗

Children learn from a variety of environments and experiences, these can be more meaningful if they are part of them, if they live them as a first person. When we visited the in we planned our trip together, we practice some reading with all the signs and stations, we learnt about being patience and being grateful on public transport as well as following the rules around the tube, bus and COVID. They loved looking at those old ways of moving around with horses! As well as understanding how new escalators work. They asked so many questions and then got involved in some role play around the pretend bus, taxi, clipper and train available for children to play with. 🚖🚡🚟🚆🚌🚇
