Sounds Physical Part 1 – Sound + Body + Environment.

This is an introductory online course exploring the bare bones of professional sound practice. It will focus on working with sound as a physical presence on the dance floor and within movement practice, and how sound interacts with the body and environment.

This course will enable you to make informed choices about equipment and how to use it, and stimulate creative ideas when working with music across all genres.

The course aims:

To develop practical and creative skills when working with sound and music, enabling sound confidence and safety.

To encourage sound awareness and demystify some of the technical aspects of sound production.

To explore and share ideas about wellbeing, sound and the body.

Plus space to consider the impact of the pandemic on sensory experience, and how this might inform how you work with sound, music and the physical body.

Testimonials

“I highly recommend this short course with Nina. It opened my eyes to dimensions of sound that I had never considered, and which most of us don't think about – or know about – as conscious dance teachers, but which can really assist us in creating soundscapes, understanding technical sound issues, and using sound optimally with dancers. Nina is a radio maker, composer, sound artist and much more, and brings a wealth of experience to her teaching.” - Jess Glenny, Conscious dance & yoga teacher and therapist.

"we made sound waves out of paper, it was so creative. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn about sound or improve their sound system, Nina is an expert and a really fun teacher to learn with..” - Sarah Davies Open Floor and 5Rhythms teacher.

Why Do We Move To Music? 04/03/2020

Today we had the final webinar of Sounds Physical Part 1. It's been an absolute joy working with this inspiring and creative group of conscious dance teachers to explore sound, body and environment.

It's so moving to see how our journey is resonating with those who took part in so many different ways - Sarah Davies has expressed this so beautifully within her writing on 'why we move to music'.

The course will be running again from the end of April - do get in touch if you're interested in joining us - places will be limited - www.ninaperry.co.uk/courses for more details.

Why Do We Move To Music? What is it about music that makes us move? You’ve had that experience of hearing a piece of music, and finding yourself nodding your head…
