Spitting absolute bars at the end there

On a serious note, this a very common approach to dealing with a fresh injury.
It's very important to get started on the process of recovery and the process may be a lot more active than you think.

Just asking your body is this okay to do? Move the area in a pain free range, train other parts of your body as you usually would, get some stimulus in ya.

Our brains just want to make sure we are and can survive, it predicts based on past experiences. When we have a lack of experiences to draw from, we struggle to gauge safety. Can't fully expect things to go well if you return to sport after just resting.

Without the necessary process our nervous system doesn't have a chance to acquire the ability to feel safe and our tissue(s) won't experience the stressors that'll help it to heal.

Injury rehab isn't just beneficial, it's a necessity.

Feeling safe comes down to how we perceive on multiple levels

It's difficult to gauge that when we're so uncertain. An easy situation for fuel to be added to the fire when you're told by somebody you trust that something is dangerous for you to do. Regardless of whether that statement is true or not, it can alter/fortify your perception(s).

Empowerment would then fall into the mix when a proactive solution is provided, the ability to place the power back into their hands. A sense of an ability to do something about it. They take action, we provide guidance.

The relationship we have with our pain and injuries will absolutely manifest in our behaviours. Coaches, healthcare providers, you name it, play a vital role in influencing this relationship and subsequently impacting the behaviours that lead to the outcome.

Sometimes people don't think it be how it be, but it do

A keen eye for the cervical spine

When assessing the back and neck, the ability to look at it as segments is going to be inherently useful when determining where movement is occuring and where it isn't. It's made up of joints at the end of the day (and a bunch of other stuff).

You can see in the first picture how there is still curvature on the front of the neck and how the ear sits relative to the shoulder. If we just looked at this globally you'd just think there's a bit of restriction going into extension. Where the restriction takes place will drive the specificity here in the prognosis.

Specificity in assessment allows for specificity in treatment.
