T Levels - Employer involvement for Agriculture, Land Production and Management
This September the Technical Qualification in Agriculture, Land Management and Production for the T Level in Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care will be going live. This qualification has the following Occupational Specialisms (OS):
- Crop Production
- Ornamental and Environmental Horticulture and Landscaping
- Trees and Woodlands – Forestry
- Trees and Woodlands – Arboriculture
- Livestock Production
- Floristry
- Land-based Engineering
In preparation for delivery, and throughout the lifetime of the qualification, employer involvement is key. There is a number of ways employers and individuals working in industry can be involved
including:
- Validation of assessment materials
- Reviews
- T Level Employer Strategy Group
- Ambassador
City & Guilds need employers and people working in industry across all of the Occupational Specialisms to be involved.

T Levels - employers involvement for Animal Care and Management
In February, City & Guilds will be restarting the development of the Technical Qualification in Animal Care and Management which will be part of the T Level in Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care. This qualification will have two Occupational Specialisms (OS):
• Animal Care and Management
• Animal Care and Science
For this development, they will need employers and people working in the animal care industry to be involved and this includes the following:
• Pet stores and retail
• Dog grooming
• Boarding, kennels and catteries
• Animal training
• Pet nutrition
• Zoos
• Wildlife parks
• Aquariums
• Animal health
• Veterinary surgeries

Update on Technical Qualification in Animal Care and Management (ACM)
Following a recent consultation on the draft outline content, IfATE will be progressing development of a new T Level Occupational Specialism (OS) for Animal Care and Science. The aim of this OS is to provide students with employment or entry into higher education. This OS will be an option within the Animal Care and Management T Level and sit alongside the Animal Care and Management specialism.
Development of the Equine Care and Management Occupational Specialism will remain paused whilst the aligned standards are being revised. This work is expected to conclude in summer 2023.

Consultation open for draft outline content for Occupational Specialism in Science for the Animal Care and Management T Level.
The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) would welcome views from providers, employers, and industry bodies on draft outline content for the Occupational Specialism in Science for the Animal Care and Management T Level.
A consultation page has gone live today and can be found https://lnkd.in/eXYNyezK . This contains the draft outline content and a survey for completion. This will be open until midnight on Monday 14th November.

T Levels – Industry Technical Consultants for T Level in Agriculture, Environment and Animal Care
As you are probably aware, we are delighted to have been awarded the contracts to deliver the Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care T Levels. The two Technical Qualifications (TQs) in Land represent an excellent opportunity for young people to start their working life in a sector which can offer sustainable, rewarding careers.
We are looking to recruit industry and subject matter experts for a number of roles, including to develop assessments that include exam questions, practical assignments, and projects for this new Technical Qualification, as well as digital learning resources to support teaching and learning, and to provide validation on development activity. This is contracted paid work with our Qualification Assessment and Development Team and other project teams. Below are the occupational specialisms covered by these TQs:
• Livestock production
• Crop production
• Trees and woodlands management (Forest and Arboriculture)
• Land-based engineering
• Floristry
• Ornamental and environmental horticulture and landscaping
• Animal care and management
• Equine care and management
Outline of T Levels:
T Levels are aimed at 16-18-year-old students
They’re designed to offer a ‘gold standard’ route for students wishing to enter skilled occupations
T Levels are nationally recognised programmes that have similar rigour to 3 A Levels
They’re developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure they meet the needs of the industry and prepare students for the workplace.
