Welcome to 70s disco line dance classes from the USA! For many years, the Disco Diva roamed the earth in search of a disco line dance class. Nevertheless, with 80s seeing the “death” of disco, there was none to be found. This sorry state of affairs saddened her. In 2008, she completed the teacher training course at Dance District in Toronto. At the end of her course, she approached the studio boss and mentor, Ilona, and proposed to go bravely where no woman has gone before--at least, since the late 1970s. Ilona indulged this revolutionary, and perhaps risky, idea. The Disco Diva got cracking with wonderful line dance books of the era, courtesy of the Toronto Public Libraries, and did extensive research into original disco footage. With 10 eager participants, Disco Fever was born on August 5th, 2008. Since then, the journey has been very adventurous. There have been group classes, private lessons, large and small parties, and even a few wedding dances! Disco Fever also has been featured on CBC’s Living in Toronto and Fresh Air, as well as Evi-dance. In 2009, the dance troupe, The Disco Diva and Her Diva-ettes, was born. They performed at studio parties, Nuit Blanche, charity functions, with the band, Disco Nation, and the premiere of Funkytown. Throughout it all, Disco Fever remained the ONLY authentic disco line dance class in Toronto, and perhaps in the world. Further disco horizons called. ‘Fever Anni ‘70’ debuted in Italy in 2016 at Centro Accademico Carma Torino and led to a profile in La Repubblica newspaper. In 2017, disco descended on Revue Studios and got the groovers Swansea, Wales moving, highlighted by a funk-tastic Saturday Night Fever After Party at Cinema and Co.
