Busy Izzy's Childcare I'm Ruby the owner of Busy Izzy"s child care. My setting is based in Peckham, and is inspired by Montessori and The Curiosity approach learn and play style.

I will be providing childcare between the hours of 8am to 6pm.

Team work makes the dream work. It goes without saying head chef was lil miss.
Have you ever gone into the cupboard and realised the nuttela spread you thought you had, had gone walkies....yups OK so this happened. 🤣
Buttttt nevertheless pancakes, chocolate spread and bananas was had and enjoyed by all.

The weather was soo nice on this day, and we're very lucky to have a lovely park across the road.
We decided to stop at the park for our tea.
We usually do an afternoon welcome song, to welcome our little lady, so I packed our song box and we had a little sing along and play before heading back.

❤ Happy Valentines Day
We worked together to bring our valentines sensory tray to life.
The girls were eager to help mix the paint, in the middle of making their cards.
Using rice was an opportunity for little one to explore a different texture that doesn't leave marks on hands etc.
We could scoop, fill, empty and pour, and also recognise numbers.
We've danced the day away over here. LOL, spot my bookworm in the corner having a break ❤

Oral hygiene
🪥 We spent a few days learning about oral hygiene. As its very important to start this early on to make sure it becomes a natural habit.
🪥 Statistics taken from gov.uk suggests "nearly a quarter of 5 year olds have tooth decay".
🪥 As a childcare provider it's part of my role to encourage and support children to care for their teeth and overall well being.
🪥 We started with a trip to the dentist. And came home and got to work cleaning our teeth. We practised how to old our teethbrush, and put paste on. Our print out teeth were a tad bit dirty so lots of arm work to get them spotless again. 😅

Placemats
We have placemats we use at meal times, including snack time if we're not on an outing.
This means we can all set the table together and decide where we would like to sit, as it has their picture in the middle. As well as a cheeky way to casually recognise our names. We're learning and don't even know it 🤣🥰

I find these outings are really soothing. The children are able to run, try to run and just be free.
Our nature outings is our time to be creative whilst outdoors.
We sometimes leave pretty marks on sticks and tree trunks. Practise making bubbles or just have a kick.
I pack our "outings bag", separate bag filled with specific activities, so I'm prepared should the interest change, as right now they're still quite young so attention to an activity can some sometimes be limited.

It was only fitting to do some dinosaur printing. Here the focus was on becoming comfortable with paint.
Aswel as noticing the differences in the dinosaurs. Tall, short, long etc.

🦕 Dinosaur roar. Haha
Once a month we aim to go on a "big outing". This month this was to the Natural History Museum.
🦕 We had been learning about body parts, so as a way to expand on this and add a twist of we went.
🦕 We acknowledged we had bones, we tapped our own heads and I believe some dots started to add up. 😅
🦕 We probably roared a tad bit louder than what we should of but hm.
It was a lovely opportunity to sight see, the children were not just interested in the museum alone, they were very eager to give a smile and a wave to the other school children and staff. 🥰

I used this activity as an opportunity to work on our fine motor skills.
There was the option to use tweezers, as we're still learning how to successfully use these.
☃️ We had fun emptying and filling, exploring the concept of "empty & full"
☃️ Counting the pasta and cotton balls
☃️ Unravelling the cotton balls
☃️ And of course actually making our snowman in a jar
