Etching - Linocut - Monoprinting.. safe and clean methods. Expert tuition and many materiels supplie

Operating as usual

Hi folks - for info our evening class is getting heavily booked - while the day class is has plenty of room. If you are looking for inspiration (aren't we all) don't forget the optional "heroes" summer project. I discovered a new one - G M Trevelyan.. for his thoughts on conservation.

For information. We have ordered a supply of Caligo washable relief inks for etching and relief printing. Basic colours but a range that should allow a broad range of tints etc to be made.
If you are considering buying new inks then it might be worth your while ensuring they are compatible with the Caligo range.
we will have Black, blue and sepia in etching inks.
Process primaries in relief inks plus white and extender.

The finished screenprint - thanks to all the participants and dont forget to collect your copy if you are "in" it!

This print to be shown at ING Discerning eye exhibition in November at the Mall Galleries. The Vaccination centre - again!
It started life as a Demo reduction print on Zoom.

So the BAEC website is live and courses are as follows for folks that want to try Printmaking or continue to practice. Kirsten has a class Wednesday morning from am until 1.30. And Tony Anderson has a class from 6.30pm - 9pm on the same days. Start 15 Sep.
Also Tony has a paint in to print course from Monday 13th Sep 6.30pm - 9pm - all are on the BAEC site and affordably priced.
Print on!

Getting close to the final version of our tribute to Ian Dury and Reasons to be Cheerful. Gonna start our own one when I have this one complete.. intention is to screen print it for the group!!

Final version of Covid print and intended middle stage of triptich ..I have just started first pane.

Long overdue update... Kent wood is open again with a new term starting in April with am and PM print courses.. book early to avoid missing out as numbers may be limited.

So Kentwood is currently closed for in person lessons but we are conducting virtual lessons and tasks with learners who can handle the technical issues that arise.. so far so good - lots of fine work and enthusiasm.. I will post some work here soon!!

Something odd with Facebook and this site - it was permanently closed last time I looked but LO it is working again!! so Im posting some new work!!

Blow a trumpet for me.. included in ING Discerning eye exhibition 2020 the below LINOCUT .. from a drawing or half a dozen at the Ripley art centre where we hold the sessions.
Its called "Leo from Peckham."

So the first lessons took place yesterday and it was OK. Not sure we all felt comfortable but we did our best and after a while started too make some progress .. my sense is that it CAN work in a socially responsible and safe way. Well done to all who have worked to make it possible and those willing to give it a go. The courses are filling up fast so IF you happen across this page looking for print course best you book on quick.

Getting excited .. well slightly .. the Print room at Kentwood after a reshuffle of furniture. Hoping that we can get back to some useful creative time ahead. Courses start Tuesday.

Kentwood to open again!
After much work and deliberation the centre will be opening on 15th September for PRINT CLASSES. There are sessions am and evening and spaces on both.. but not many so sign up soon as space due to Covid measures is limited.
NB Those signed up last term (and losing out) are getting a healthy discount so point that out if it applies to you.

Anyone visiting this site. please note that the Kentwood centre is closed while the effects of Covid are apparent. In time and with measures in place and especially by September the venue will reopen for courses of ALL sorts. For now ideas new work and other news will be posted on here. The hope is that in early July dates of Septembers courses will go on the council/centre website. I will update this site accordingly.

Another acrylic print of Picasso Dancing in a Mausoleum to a well known Spanish Dictator.

Testing a new method of printing with builders acrylic filler and bonder on various substrates. The pic is of Model Helen and titled "Helen Autumn"- a multi phased drawing/painting made at the Ripley are centre (See the liveliestartgroupinbromley) direct on to Lino then worked and painted over for some months prior to printing at home without a press.

Jumping ahead but I thought I would post the finished prints. The videos will show how they were made- reduction method on softcut vinyl.

For suppliers of print materials I recommend the following art shops via Email:
Jacksons Art supplies (generally quick to deliver)
Lawrence Print supplies - online
Intaglio print supplies: -ditto- Caveat is I am not sure how they are affected by the Covid crisis. Though I did get some supplies recently. Ill post a photo of the items too so you have all the information.

Hi. This is the second video on reduction linocutting.. better ones are available on Utube. It is about 8 minutes long and once again I apologise for the production values.
Any questions message me any which way.

Apologies for the poor quality .. I will improve as I grapple with the production of these instructional videos. It stops rather abruptly too when the camera stopped .. again something I shall cure going forward.
