For years, I believed science and spirituality lived at opposite ends of the spectrum.
After 15+ years as a specialist dentist and training as an
Integrative Psychotherapist, I discovered they don't have to compete-they can complement each other.
The biggest shift?
Don't wait until you're depleted to take care of yourself.
Follow for weekly, practical strategies grounded in both
science and lived experience.
(prevention not recovery, integrative psychotherapy,
burnout, nervous system tools, wellbeing in dentistry, spiritually led, evidence based wellbeing, somatic, wellbeing at work)

βMy mission is to encourage flows of compassion in dentistry by breaking isolation and fostering meaningful connections.
I support dentists in preventing burnout, managing self-criticism, and reducing shame, helping them to thrive in their careers.β

Reminder for today:
You don't need permission to slow down.
You don't need to justify taking a break.
And you definitely don't have to earn rest.
Rest is part of the process-not the prize.
Save this for when life feels too loud.

For years I thought wellbeing was something you dealt with after everything fell apart.
I'm Aditi - a Specialist Dentist and Integrative Psychotherapist. I spent 15+ years in dentistry before my own burnout taught me the thing I now teach others: you don't have to wait until you're depleted to start looking after yourself.
This page is about prevention, not crisis response. Compassion, not criticism. The body, not just the mind.
Glad you're here.

I'm so excited to be featured in Just Breathe Magazine this month, talking about the avoidance trap - sharing a compassion-focused lens on why we dodge the emails, the hard chats, the things everyone else seems to breeze through. ππΌ

When did you last eat lunch without doing something else at the same time?π€
Not scrolling. Not checking notes. Not planning the afternoon. Just eating.
Your nervous system needs a genuine break during the day - not a shorter version of work. βΈοΈ
When you eat while working, your body stays in threat mode. Your digestion suffers. Your cortisol stays elevated. You never actually recover.
One lunch break. Away from the screen. Away from the surgery if you can.
That is a mental health action. That is self-compassion in the most practical form possible.
It sounds so simple it shouldn't need saying. And yet most professionals haven't done it in years.
This Mental Health Awareness Week - just eat. π
N.O.U.R.I.S.H. on 11 July is built around exactly this - making the simple things actually happen. A few places remaining. πΏ

Every difficult patient or meeting. Every moment you stayed professional when you wanted to scream. Every time you braced yourself and kept going.
It's all stored - in your nervous system, your muscles, your breath.
Between patients or meetings, squeeze your fists tight. Hold for 5 seconds. Keep Breathing. Release. Do this 3 times.
That's it. That's the whole thing.
Your nervous system stores tension - in your jaw, your shoulders, your hands without you even noticing. This tiny act releases it. Immediately.
Thinking you donβthave time for long wellbeing routines well... You need 5 seconds and the willingness to let your body discharge what it's been carrying.
Try it once this week. Just once.
Mental Health Awareness Week is about recognising what's real. This is real. And it works.

Five years in and motherhood continues to be my greatest teacher - and my most humbling one.
I work in the space of wellbeing and self-compassion. I talk about nervous system regulation, about rest, about treating yourself with the same kindness you offer others.
And then motherhood arrived and said -yes, but can you actually live it?
It put my knowledge and my practice to the test in a way nothing else has. And it taught me - slowly, imperfectly - that self-compassion isn't something you achieve. It's something you return to. Again and again. Especially on the hard days.
As we head into Mental Health Awareness Week - this feels worth saying out loud.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. And learning to fill yours is not weakness. It is wisdom.
If you are a professional, dentist or mother (or all three) ready to invest in that foundation - I would love to support you. Whether through one-to-one mentoring, or the warmth of Dental Wellbeing Hub community , or N.O.U.R.I.S.H. on 11 July - a one-day intensive for just 12 dental professionals ready to build something sustainable from the inside out. π±

Something I wrote - and something I see every week
Burnout rarely announces itself. It seeps in quietly. Persistent fatigue. Emotional flatness. Going through the motions while everything on the outside looks completely fine.
The problem isn't awareness of stress. Most of us are very aware.
The problem is that we were never taught how to navigate it.
My latest article in this month's Yoga Magazine explores burnout as a nervous system experience- and offers six simple rituals that don't require a complete life overhaul. Just a willingness to pause with intention.
And if you're ready to go deeper - N.O.U.R.I.S.H is a one-day intensive built specifically for dental professionals who are tired of just getting through the day.
If N.O.U.R.I.S.H feels like what your nervous system has been asking for - I'd love for you to join me for the next one.

You took the time off. You tried to be present. You told yourself this break would be different.
And yet here you are - back in clinic, just as tired as before you left. Carrying the same weight, plus a quiet guilt that you somehow wasted the rest you so desperately needed.
Here's what I want you to know: that's not a you problem. That's a nervous system that never received the signal it was safe to stop.
This Stress Awareness Month I'm sharing everything I know about why dental professionals struggle to truly rest and what we can do about it. Swipe to read the full post. π
If you're ready to go deeper than tips and actually change the pattern - N.O.U.R.I.S.H. on 11 July is a one-day intensive for 12 dental professionals ready to do exactly that.
