The London Safeguarding Children Partnership has published updated Safeguarding Children Procedures and Practice Guidance, reflecting legislative changes, learning from reviews, and current best practice across London.
All practitioners and partner agencies working with children and families in Croydon should familiarise themselves with the revised procedures and ensure they are embedded in day to day practice. The updated guidance provides clearer expectations around thresholds, roles and responsibilities, and effective multi agency working.
The full procedures and practice guidance are available on the London Safeguarding Children Procedures website and should be shared widely within teams.

To support parents, we have created the attached “Growing Up with Phones and Taking Photos.”
As children go through normal development, they become more aware of their bodies. Some may take photos of themselves on their phones, often for private viewing. With personal devices in bedrooms and activity out of sight, this can happen without awareness or discussion.
Many do not realise that if backup is switched on and the phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, photos can be automatically stored online. This means images can leave the phone without being shared and remain accessible through the account.
If someone gains access to that account, they may be able to view and download these images. In some cases, this can lead to misuse, including coercion, cyberbullying, blackmail, or grooming.
This is a sensitive issue that needs to be discussed openly between parents and their children.
Please print and share the attached PDF flyer and use the PNG version for digital sharing across your networks and social media channels to help raise awareness and support safer behaviours.
The aim is to ensure families understand the risk and take steps to keep children safe online.

The end and start of any term are particularly busy times for us at Training as we are asked to facilitate safeguarding INSETS in schools and EY providers
Today is no exception. 3 safeguarding sessions for 3 different clients. One virtual session for a multi school academy and 2 nurseries
We keep going 💪🏽

Happy summer term wishes to all you safeguarders 🥳😎
Outdoor learning: critical incident planning for the summer term (OEAP)
With the summer term typically bringing an increase in off-site visits and outdoor learning activities, now is the time for schools to ensure their planning is in order, including critical incident procedures.
The Outdoor Education Advisers' Panel (OEAP) publishes National Guidance that is recognised by the Government and referenced in the DfE's Health and Safety on Educational Visits guidance and the HSE's School Trips guidance.
Their model critical incident plan for employers is worth downloading and reviewing before the summer term gets underway. The guidance reminds us that emergency contact arrangements must work around the clock, including overnight, weekends, and holiday periods, for any time a visit might be taking place.
Second, the plan explicitly reminds those receiving an emergency call to stay calm, take charge as Incident Controller, and record everything, a simple sequence that is easy to overlook without prior preparation.
There is separate OEAP guidance for the first contact guidance document. This is a prompt sheet designed to be printed and kept near phones so that any member of staff who takes an emergency call knows exactly what questions to ask and in what order.
Both documents are available at:
