Last week Inventors put their hands to trying new occupations as builders, inspired by the building work we can see from the Preschool garden.

Some of our construction workers decided to change occupations to become Mechanics and play repairing the bikes and tricycles.

Some children wanted to play bubbles and we decided to take it to another level and made a whole tray of bubble mixture and pipe cleaner bubble wands for everyone. The children had to practice blowing carefully and working together to compare sizes of bubbles on the table before they popped.

Pre-school brought our Diwali and Black History Month focus to a close with some Mehndi hand designs and another look over our Book Of The Month Handa’s Surprise. The children have really enjoyed exploring different cultures this month and as these celebrations draw to a close we focus now on Autumn and the change in weather, early nights and leaves filling the streets. The children have loved exploring different textures and colours of the leaves as we head towards November.

Our Explorers (2-3 year olds) experimented with colour making their firework pictures and used water and paint brushes to put out the bonfire.

Over the past few weeks our Explorers (2-3 year olds) have been showing a great interest in looking after the dolls. After their own little afternoon nap our boys decided it was time for the dolls to have a sleep. They changed their nappies, change their clothes and put them down to sleep mimicking how we put the children to sleep they rubbed the children's backs and sung the gentle songs.

The children absolutely love Julia Donaldson books and some of them have a particular favourite 'A squash and a squeeze' we read it often sometimes 4 or 5 times a day along with the books paper dolls, room on a broom and of course The Gruffalo so when we acquired a box what else could we make but the little old ladies house from a squash and a squeeze and all the animals that go in it.

During Diwali we looked at pattern and colour . They especially liked designing their own Mehendi patterns on the cut out hands and listening to stories all about Diwali celebrations.
