Day of play

There are many learning benefits to sensory play. The development of new connections in the brain is enhanced when we use and engage our senses (sight, touch, smell, taste, sound or vestibular & proprioception – our sense of balance, body position and place in space). The more sensory experiences we have, the better the ability we have to develop pathways in the brain for thought, learning and creativity.

How are you feeling today?
Talking openly about feelings helps children learn that their emotional health is just as important as their physical health. Normalising feelings decreases anxiety, promotes emotional intelligence, and reduces unhealthy behaviours.

The use of play dough is a great way to help children develop the skills they need to foster independence. Some of the benefits of playing with and/or making they own play dough:
In-hand manipulation skills; finger isolation; bilateral coordination; hand strengthening; sensory experience; problem solving
