Zip Zap Waltham Forest & East Village

Zip Zap Waltham Forest & East Village Weekly music, sensory & drama classes for under 4’s, nursery sessions & parties. E10, E11, E17 & E20.

Our Little Zippers is for 10 months up to 5 years old and our Baby Zappers is for babies up until they are walking or 10 months. Each individualised class provides an exciting mixture of music and drama –written in consultation with an Educational Psychologist - which are linked by our weekly theme. Zip Zap combines traditional nursery rhymes with upbeat and lively pop songs, which will have child

ren and carers alike bopping along to the funky beats. Every week at Zip Zap, children explore a thrilling new theme through performance and games, ranging from Colours, to the Wild West, to the Night Sky. Our professional cast of two performers, Alison and Zoe, welcome each child to join in the journey whether it’s clapping and singing along, or playing a leading role in one of our sing-a-long songs. 4 days until September term starts! And Colin and Dave (plus the rest of our puppet family) are ready to come out and play! 🐻🦊🐸✨

But did you know that puppets are so much more than a bit of silly fun? 👀

When babies and toddlers interact with puppets, they’re developing:

🗣️ Language & communication — puppets encourage children to listen, copy sounds, learn new words and join in with songs and stories.

👀 Attention & focus — a puppet appearing, disappearing or “talking” can capture a little one’s attention and encourage them to watch and listen.

💭 Imagination & creativity — puppets introduce children to pretend play and help them begin to explore imaginary worlds.

❤️ Emotional development — puppets can help children explore feelings, relationships and different social situations in a fun, safe way.

🤝 Social skills — talking to a puppet, responding to it and watching others interact with it encourages shared attention and early turn-taking.

🎭 Confidence & self-expression — sometimes it’s easier to communicate with a puppet than a grown-up! Puppets can give children a playful way to express themselves. On my regular visits to my daughter’s early years setting, the EYFS lead always speaks about how the children speak more when there is puppetry intertwined with learning. AMAZING!

And for our youngest Zip Zappers, simply watching a puppet move, listening to its voice and reaching out to touch it is already a wonderful sensory and learning experience. 💛

So yes… there may will be lots of puppet silliness at Zip Zap this term. But there’s always learning hiding underneath it. 🐻✨

6 sleeps until September term starts! We are ready to shake, rattle and roll… 🪇🥁✨

But did you know that all that shaking, tapping and banging is doing SO much more than making a lovely noise? 😂

When babies and toddlers explore instruments like maracas, tambourines and shakers, they’re developing:

🧠 Cause and effect — discovering “I shake it and it makes a sound!”

✋ Fine & gross motor skills — gripping, reaching, shaking, tapping and moving their whole bodies.

👂 Listening skills — learning to notice changes in sound, volume, rhythm and tempo.

🗣️ Early communication & language — building an understanding of words like shake, tap, loud, quiet, fast and slow.

❤️ Confidence & self-expression — discovering that they can independently create sounds and make things happen.

🤝 Social skills — practising turn-taking, shared attention and making music together.

And perhaps most importantly, they’re exploring, experimenting and having fun — which is exactly how young children learn best. 💛

So bring on September… we’re ready for some serious shaking! 🪇

When a legend of ska is at a Zip Zap party, you’ve got to get a photo! Thanks Suggs for the pic, chats and funny anecdote about your time entertaining at a kids party 🤣

“I tried to do the entertainment at my daughter’s birthday when she was one and it was a complete disaster. All the kids were crying within ten minutes or wanting to leave. But you guys… know what you’re doing.” 😂😂😂😂

Proof that even the legends know kids can be the toughest crowd of all 😂

4 YEARS OF ZIP ZAPPING ✨

A day when I always take a few minutes to reflect on the past year and the past four years, and how far I’ve come as a business owner (and how I’m still learning every day) and how our Zip Zap community has grown 🥹

It’s wild to think that four years ago we ran our very first class at Leyton Technical (now The Leyton Engineer). The ‘team’ was just me and Zoë back then. It’s also wild to think that I was juggling a 10 month old and 3 year old 😱 Although, heads up, it doesn’t really get any easier, it just changes 😂

What I’m most grateful for from the past year is:

💜 The parents and carers who repeatedly book us year after year for their little one’s birthday celebrations. Honestly, it is such an honour to be consistently asked back to entertain at these special days
💜 The parents and carers who repeatedly come back to class! We get to see newborn babies blossom into confident toddlers. And when those adults come back with kid #2, 3 or 4…. Wow, that’s so special.
💜 We had our first Zip Zap Fest! Something I’d dreamed of for years, became a reality thanks to Tilbury Yard and we can’t wait for the next one.
💜 Our nursery and school partnerships have grown and grown: Nappy Gang, Harvey House (multiple sites), East Wick Kids, Tiny Champs, Kindred Wanstead, Treehouse Nursery, Sybourn Primary, plus many more.
💜Our corporate bookings keep asking us back too ☺️

None of this would be possible without ZIPZAP KIDS LONDON and my incredible team – Zoë, Moya, Mollie, Niyi, Kate, Kira, Siân, Hannah, Emily, Maisie, Nadya, Jessie & Alice– who bring so much energy and talent every week. (And to those who had to leave us for West End jobs or to cruise the world, we love and miss you.)
I am the lady behind the emails, the socials, the admin and I’m leading most of our public classes, but my team are either there with me by my side, giving their absolute all, or at other venues and sites running the show smoothly and professionally, with so much kindness and care ❤️

AND to everyone who recommends us, writes a review or tags us on socials - this gives us a real boost and means more than you’ll ever know (especially during a heat wave 🥵)

This past year has also been personally challenging in ways I didn’t expect. But one thing I can say for certain… I never end a Zip Zap class sad. It lifts me, even on the hardest days. Every class is a reminder that music really is medicine – for little ones, parents and carers, and everyone present. 💜

And of course, to my little family, S, A and – thank you for everything you do behind the scenes and for being my “why” 💜

Here’s to four years of Zip Zap magic – and many more to come. 🥂

🚨 Most people don’t apply sunscreen as effectively as they think… guilty! 🙋‍♀️

And with London currently in its third heatwave, this feels like a pretty important one to share ☀️🥵

Zip Zap friend, pharmacist, blogger and dad, Dylan, shares his simple, evidence-based sunscreen tips for keeping both little ones and grown-ups protected this summer. 🧴

From choosing the right SPF to how much you actually need, these are the things we all need to know when the sun is showing up like this! 😅

✨ This summer we’re incredibly proud to be partnering with Haven House Children’s Hospice 💛

Over the coming weeks, Zoe will be bringing music, movement, sensory play, singing and plenty of smiles to the amazing children and families at Haven House.

Zoe is incredibly experienced in SEND/PMLD/AEN/SEMH/CIN and we are truly blessed to have her as a part of the Zip Zap team.

We know that play has the power to bring joy, connection and precious moments, and it’s a privilege to be part of the incredible care and support Haven House provides every single day.

Thank you to the wonderful Haven House team for welcoming us. We can’t wait to make some magical summer memories together. 🌈🎶

E17/E10/E11 and E20 Zip Zappers - thank you! We have had the most amazing term with you.

🦸🏾‍♂️Our last week of term has been such a blast, transforming into Superheroes - so much fun and those memories will last a lifetime for adults and carers. Such a fun week to capture amazing photos with your littles.

🎉We’ve had incredible party feedback and explored so many amazing party themes along the way, including Popstars and Forest Animals!

💜To those leaving us, thank you so much for all the beautiful cards, hugs, kind words and presents. You are all too generous and we have been absolutely spoiled by your kindness and love. Best of luck as you head back to work or move to new pastures. You’ll always be part of the Zip Zap family. And good luck to all our preschoolers, heading to school in September - you will smash it!

🍺We had our first ever Zip Zap Fest! I look back at these videos and photos with so much joy and I can’t wait for the next one. We’re already in talks again with 🤫👀

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️To everyone who has left us a review and/or tagged us in a photo/video online - each one is such a huge help to my small business. Thank you for supporting a mum-founded, female led, small and local business.

Looking forward to seeing you all from mid-August when we get back to class 💪🏻
