Our review of 60 global philanthropic foundations published today points to a more diverse group of leaders in post today than compared to 2012, with foundations in the US having made significant progress in addressing diversity over the ten years.

In contrast, European foundations have made less progress during the past decade in which there has been growing awareness of the importance of balance in leadership roles in public life.

It should not be forgotten the vast majority of philanthropists to the UK’s universities – 66 of the top 100 in the SundayTimes Rich List give to UK universities – make a remarkable contribution to Higher Education and that should be a cause of great celebration.
