The University of North Carolina Wilmington, founded in 1947, is a public research university in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina system, and is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities â High research activity". UNCW is located in a beachside town on the U.S. east coast, with a campus size of 661 acres. UNCW offers the only U.S. degree program focused on Coastal Engineering.
