This week we have one half of Dalston's finest, Stephen Eggeman on the decks!

So come join us for some bangin’ tracks, great drinks, and just a ruddy good time - think a party at a good friend’s house.

Brixton's Got Rhythm is a swing-dance social where we play a wide range of music from the Jazz continuum. Expect a mixture of music to help you shake off those end-of-week blues.

Please note that the main dance floor is up a flight of stairs to a mezzanine. Music can still be heard from the bar downstairs.

Tonight we have the one and only Kibble stepping in for the guest teacher spot!

Classes start with work on fundamentals and connection, and then we'll move on to the main theme of class.

After class we have some time for a social dance/practice/feedback.

One of the things we really want to cultivate with our lessons are well rounded dancers, and to bring the dances that live under the swing umbrella together.

So a huge thanks to .ling for bringing her Balboa knowledge to do a lesson on mixing Lindy and Balboa.

And thanks to our students for diving in and giving it a go!

This week our special guest teacher is the incredible !

Angela is a Hackney born and raised performer, educator and producer. Her work is informed by layers of theory and practice: street dance, partner- dancing, youth and community education and music.

Angela 'discovered' Lindy Hop in 1991, and she is renowned for her contribution to the development of the community and her unique yet grounded teaching style.

Her passion drives her to continue to spread and develop the Lindy Hop; her emphasis on the soul and roots of the dance.

Her aim is for the Lindy Hop to be recognised for its duality: as a contemporary dance art form and as a popular Street / Club dance.

She was mentored by Lindy Hop and Jazz greats including Frankie Manning, Norma Miller and Othella Dallas.

Immensely grateful to for stepping in these past two weeks. It's been so great having someone who feels as passionately about the feeling of this dance as we do.

And a huge thank you to students new and returning for diving in and giving ELEF (Everybody Leads, Everybody Follows) a go over the past few months!

After the brief summer break, we're back! 🥳

Brixton's Got Rhythm is on today for our regular swing social, and to kick things off we're welcoming back the sensational Sonnie Spoon to head up the DJ duties.

So join us from 3:30pm - 7pm at Craft Metropolis for some bangin' tunes and a ruddy good time.

Entry is pay what you can (a percentage of profits go back into the community and we donate to local charities)
