Good luck to our Year 11s, receiving GCSE results tomorrow.

Whatever tomorrow brings, we're proud of how far each of you has come.
Our GCSE department is small on purpose: no more than 50 students in the building at any one time, based in what was once William Thackeray's own house, just off Kensington High Street. A small, close community where every student is genuinely known, with the space to find their feet and think for themselves.

Unflappable.

Composure after results isn't about being unaffected by the outcome. It's about recognising that more than one route leads somewhere good, whichever way results went.

That's the thinking behind how we work with every student here, whatever their grades said. For some, that route is a place at the university they wanted, or the course they'd set their sights on.

For others, it's a rethink. A retake. A different path they hadn't planned on but are walking into anyway. Both take nerve. We're just as proud either way, and just as ready to help.

Last week's news is the past. What matters now is the next step, and there's always a good one available.

If results day didn't go the way you hoped, get in touch. We're here, and we've helped plenty of students find their way through this exact moment.

Happiness looks like this.
Not just because of the grades, although A*, A*, A, including 100% on both English Literature and RS papers, is a fairly good excuse. It's the moment itself. That's Lottie, and that's Michael, her tutor, just as happy as she is. Maybe happier.
This is what makes Collingham special. Not facilities, not league tables. The relationships between people. It's a deeply human place, where tutors and students build the kind of bond that means results day isn't just about a grade. It's personal, for both of them.
Lottie's just one of our students. Huge congratulations too to Harry, A*, A*, A*, off to medical school. And to the many others heading to some of the top universities in the UK, across a wonderful mix of subjects, and further afield too, with students off to universities in the US and beyond. One student is off to art school to study Set Design. She'll spend the next few years building the worlds that other people's stories get told in. That's the kind of path that only makes sense if you let people follow what's actually right for them.
Because what we've learned, again and again, is this. When a student believes in their own ability, wonderful things happen, whatever shape that takes. And it helps enormously to have someone in your corner who believes it first.
Congratulations to every single one of them. And to the tutors who got them there.
And for anyone whose week has taken a different turn, a change of direction, a different course, a different city, a path you hadn't planned on, that takes just as much nerve. We're here for that too. It's exactly what a retake, a resit, or a fresh start looks like from the inside, and it's exactly the kind of thing Collingham exists to help with.

Not just because of the grades, although A*, A*, A, including 100% on her English and RS papers, is a fairly good excuse. It's the moment itself. That's Lottie, and that's Michael, her tutor, just as happy as she is. Maybe happier.

We're also smiling about the news of Harry, A*, A*, A*, off to medical school. And to one of our students who's off to art school to study Set Design. She'll spend the next few years building the worlds that other people's stories get told in.

Whether it's a degree at Nottingham, Oxford, King's, Exeter, Bristol, Sussex, Leeds, Edinburgh, UAL, Goldsmiths, York, Newcastle, Manchester, Bournemouth, Kingston, UCL, Royal Holloway, Durham or studying in the US or Europe or taking an Apprencticeship, we know each destination or pathway is about helping individuals find their the future that's right for them personally. We're so proud of each and every one.

Above all, we know that when a student believes in their own ability and finds their fit, wonderful things can happen, whatever shape that takes. And it helps enormously to have someone in your corner who believes it firstt. Congratulations to our 2026 Leavers - and of course, to the tutors who helped them.

And for anyone whose week has taken a different turn, a change of direction, a different course, a different city, a path you hadn't planned on, that takes just as much nerve. We're here for that too.

Good luck to our Class of 2026, receiving their A Level results this week.

They've worked hard, had many discussions and leave us with the confidence of knowing themselves, understanding how they think and how to work effectively, whether that's been over one year or two.

Between them, this year's leavers have already received 239 offers across 82 universities and art colleges, spanning 135 different courses in the UK and abroad; proof of just how differently each of them thinks and the importance we place on helping every student find the next step that suits them as the individuals they are.

Whatever tomorrow brings, we're proud of you all. Please stay in touch!

Meet Maddie. Pictured here celebrating her call to the Bar, and now a qualified barrister. A focused year of retakes at Collingham was the turning point that took her to Oxford, and from there to law school.

“Collingham gave me the confidence to aim high and the independence to find the systems and approaches that worked best for me. Those are lessons I still carry with me today.”

Grit, determination, and exactly the independence of spirit we love to see.

Congratulations Maddie. We are so proud of you and wish you the very best of luck as you start your professional life.

For anyone considering whether a retake year is worth it, Maddie's story shows what's possible. If you'd like to discuss your options, please get in touch.

Every year we ask parents of Collingham leavers to sum up the college in three words, and here's what one recent leaver's parent said, unprompted:

“Brilliant James Allder.”

James has been Principal of Colingham since 2023 - and before that was Deputy Principal and Head of GCSE. His approach is based on one belief: every student is an individual, and education works best when it starts from who they actually are, not a fixed idea of who they should be. Firm about the work. Genuinely kind about the person doing it.

'What I love about Collingham is that both students and tutors focus on what really matters; who you are, what you want to achieve and how we can help you get there'.

Or as we say, ' Be Yourself. Master Your Subject. Think Independently'.

What's a rhinoceros got to do with a Sixth Form college? Scroll through to see how the independent spirit of a 16th century artist still inspired us. And why for us, with 50 years of reasoning things through properly, and trusting students to commit to their own conclusions, this is an ethos that resonates.
