Meet Olatokunbo Sonowo, the visionary
recruitment consultant on a mission to empower ethnic minorities to access job and career opportunities across both the private and public sectors.
With a steadfast dedication to fostering equitable opportunities, Olatokunbo has emerged as a pioneering force in the recruitment industry. As the founder and principal consultant of Suscito Ltd, she has established herself as a trusted advisor and advocate for underrepresented communities.
Olatokunbo journey into recruitment consultancy was catalysed during the pandemic, where she witnessed first-hand the disproportionate impact the pandemic had on ethnic minorities, with many facing furloughs, reduced contract hours, and layoffs.
Motivated by compassion and a drive to effect change, she resolved to take action. Drawing upon 15 years of experience in recruitment, coupled with a Master's degree in Human Resources, Olatokunbo leverages her expertise to bridge the gap for ethnic minorities.
Her approach encompasses coaching, mentoring, and strategic guidance, it is aimed at empowering individuals and applicants on a journey to the job market. She works with applicants seeking employment at any level as well as those who want to transition into senior management roles.
Her efforts have not gone unnoticed. In August 2022, Olatokunbo was honoured with the "Influential Role & Mentor Award," recognizing her commitment to making a difference in the community. This accolade underscores her dedication and impact as a catalyst for change.
Beyond her professional endeavours, Olatokunbo remains deeply engaged in initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion. She does this by organising panel discussions, workshops, or community outreach programs.
Her highly successful career workshop in the Brent community, aimed at equipping individuals with essential skills and knowledge was made possible through funding from the national lottery. This initiative provided invaluable resources and opportunities for personal and professional development within our community Tokunbo believes in creating real change and delivering on her vision.
As Olatokunbo continues to champion diversity and empower underrepresented communities, she exemplifies the transformative power of advocacy and leadership in driving positive change. Like us all Tokunbo also has a lighter side, as she enjoys MCing at events, engaging in friendly table tennis and football matches, she also indulges in her passion for watching documentaries. These hobbies add depth to her character, revealing her multifaceted nature beyond her career pursuits."
