Longitudinal Experiences and Adjustments in Parenthood Study - LEAPS

Are you a first-time mother who moved to the UK for work or study? Are you currently pregnant or have you had your first baby in the past 6–12 months?

We are inviting you to take part in a research study exploring the experiences of economic migrant mothers during pregnancy and early motherhood. 

👩‍🔬 This study is part of the LEAPS – Lab of Experience and Adaptation to Parenthood Study, led by researchers at UCL.
🗣️ Participation involves a one-off online interview and an online questionnaire.
💻 You can take part from anywhere in the UK.

Who can take part?
✔️ First-time mothers
✔️ Aged 18+
✔️ Moved to the UK for work less than 5 years ago
✔️ Currently pregnant or gave birth within the last year

We're currently recruiting first-time expectant fathers whose partners are in their third trimester (7–9 months) of pregnancy and living in the UK.
🗣 What’s Involved?
🔹1.5-hour online interview to share your experiences of becoming a father

We are looking for babies aged between 9-14 months and their biological mothers to investigating the links between maternal and infant temperament. So who are we?
LEAPS stands for Longitudinal Experiences and Adjustments in Parenthood Study - LEAPS and is part of the research from the Lab of Experiences and Adjustments in Parenthood (LEAP) . LEAPS is a long-term study to understand what it's like for people when they become parents for the first time. We use interviews, observations of play and interactions with parents and babies, and online questionnaires to look at the mental, physical and emotional changes parents go through as they navigate parenthood and learn about early child development. Our main goal is to figure out how the experiences of parents change from pregnancy to when the baby is little and then as the child grows. With the help of parents, we hope to learn about the best ways to support parents and their families as they go through these big changes.
