There is a very important difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’ . . .
By understanding the importance of time (then) and comparing situations (than), we can use this to very simply write down the options we have when making decisions. For example:
· I would rather take on more responsibility than get a new job;
· I would rather get a new job than take on responsibility;
· I would rather get more responsibility, then get a new job;
· I would rather get a new job, then take on more responsibility.
Most of us are taught to take on more responsibility and THEN (maybe/eventually/hopefully) get a new job and be rewarded.
However, it is important to know that sometimes it is better to find a new job THAN take on extra responsibility.

English lesson:
‘Then’ is used when you’re talking about something relating to time.
Example: I made a mistake, then I learned from it.
‘Than’ is the word to use when making comparisons.
Example: I am smarter now than I was one minute ago.

There is a difference between saying ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘I apologize’.
An apology is an admission of an offence or failure. A person can give an apology without feeling remorseful.
Usually, when people say ‘I’m sorry’, they have a stronger sense of regret for the incident.
Furthermore, ‘I’m sorry’ can be used to express sympathy e.g. saying ‘I’m sorry for your loss’ at a funeral. However, ‘I apologize’ is only used for wrongdoing and does not have a function to express sympathy.
