Two weeks into the new term and the children have been working so hard! It’s been lovely seeing everyone settle back into lessons and get stuck into their learning.

But today’s storytelling session was definitely a highlight! 🥰

We read 'Star in the Jar' by Sam Hay and talked about what we could do to help the little star get home when he became sad. This led us to discover more about constellations, and the children had a chance to create and draw their very own. Plus a scavenger hunt too!

But the best part… a lantern parade on Google Meet! It was so much fun seeing everyone proudly showing off their lanterns on screen.

A lovely mix of stories, creativity, conversation and a little bit of magic to end the week!

We were blessed with sunny intervals for a wonderful day at the Whitstable Oyster Festival over the weekend! From building towers with oyster shells and playing Swing the Welly to hunting for colourful parrots along the beach, there was plenty of fun for everyone.

The highlight? Mr 11Y8M and Little Miss 7Y4M trying their first raw oysters! One was clearly more adventurous, gulping it down and asking for seconds… and thirds! (ended up eating 7!) The other took her time, sipping and nibbling before chewing the rest and deciding she was done. 😂

We were spoilt not only with the lovely weather and good food, but also with the company of wonderful friends. From popcorn mussels, calamari and lobster mac and cheese to a delicious mussel pot, we certainly enjoyed a feast by the sea!

A perfect day of food, fun, friendship and new experiences.

Annual camping Trip in Norfolk Coast (Deepdale Camping Site)

Two days of torrential rain, freezing nights and winds so wild our tent looked like it was surviving a typhoon!

One evening, we simply couldn’t get a fire going, so pizza in the tent it was! Followed by snacks, games and a tent full of people!😝

Thankfully, on the other nights we were truly spoilt by my cousin, who prepared an absolute feast with duck confit, HK-style pineapple fried rice, kimchi and lemongrass pork chops. We certainly weren’t eating like campers! 😂

But the rain didn’t stop us! We went crabbing at Wells-next-the-Sea, where the kids laughed their heads off, and cycled around Holkham Hall

We also met two amazing artists, James Buttifant, whose penguins made the children fall in love with, and Tom, who creates artwork on recycled materials, the children had great fun guessing whether his canvases had once been a pub sign, door, floorboards… or something else!

On our last day, we made bread at Bircham Windmill. The smell of warm bread was heavenly, while the children rolled and shaped their dough into some rather… creative creations!

And finally, on the last night, I caught a magical glimpse of the stars and Milky Way until I was unexpectedly called back to the tent to deal with a minor situation that shall remain between me, the tent and the night sky. 😂

🌞 Our Summer Chore Experiment

This summer, we tried a simple marble reward system for extra chores and it worked surprisingly well!

The children chose jobs, earned marbles and saved them for snack-based rewards from Power Snacks to Legendary Treats!

Also, they had unlimited Energy Snacks throughout the day e.g. fruit, cheese and other healthy snacks too.

The Snack Shop opened twice a day, giving them something to look forward to and a chance to spend their hard-earned marbles. 😋

The best part? They started looking for things that needed doing without being asked and a much tidier house! 🥰

A fun little system that encouraged independence, responsibility and teamwork.

Year 3/4 summer lessons are over!

What a fantastic few weeks of creative writing! Our young writers have been busy building their skills through stories, games and fun writing challenges.

They've been learning to:
Create vivid setting descriptions
Use similes and personification
Expand their vocabulary and choose powerful words
Improve sentences using SPaG and writing techniques
Create memorable characters

So proud of their creativity and growing confidence!

The Year 6 group has been working hard to build on their “Show, Not Tell” skills!

We’ve been exploring how to bring writing to life by showing emotions, settings and important events through actions, thoughts, senses and carefully chosen vocabulary rather than simply telling the reader what is happening.

It’s wonderful to see the children becoming more confident at making their readers feel, see and experience each moment in their stories.

So proud of the creativity and effort they are putting into their writing!

Yesterday we joined thousands of people at Kenley Airfield to watch the solar eclipse. Seeing such a spectacular event was incredible, but seeing it through the telescopes made it even more special. We hadn’t managed to get our special glasses ready, but thankfully, so many kind people shared theirs with us, allowing us to safely watch the eclipse unfold.

There was something quite magical about standing together with so many people, all looking up at the same incredible sight.

Our adventure didn’t end there. Later that evening, we met up with friends and stayed out to watch the Perseid meteor shower under a beautiful night sky. Lying back, watching shooting stars streak across the darkness, was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day.

A very long and tiring day, but one filled with wonder, laughter and memories we’ll treasure. 🥰

I’ve not had a chance to share some of the amazing work my students have been creating in their summer classes! ☀️✏️

Let’s start with our youngest children in the Little Authors Club! 📚✨

Last week, we read Flooded by Mariajo Ilustrajo 🌊📖 and had so much fun exploring the story, learning new vocabulary and discovering how illustrations and words can work together to tell a story.

It’s been such a joy watching their little imaginations come to life! 🌈
