Just 5 Minutes a Day = 282,000 Words a Year!

Did you know that a child who reads for just 5 minutes a day is exposed to 282,000 words in a year? Compare that to only 8,000 words for a child who reads just 1 minute a day!

Every minute counts when it comes to building vocabulary, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning. So grab a book, set a timer, and make reading a daily habit!

It’s okay for kids to make mistakes! Mistakes aren’t failures—they’re opportunities to learn, grow, and build resilience. Every time a child stumbles, they gain a chance to develop problem-solving skills and confidence.

During Mental Health Week, let’s remind children (and ourselves!) that learning comes from trying, failing, and trying again. When we make a mistake, we discover something new!

Encourage curiosity, celebrate effort, and embrace the learning process. Because progress, not perfection, is what truly matters.

Parent Learning Platform is proud to support the charity, Sebby’s Corner, as one of their champions for the Families in Crisis Appeal. Through our work as educational consultants, Julia and I have witnessed firsthand the amazing work they do to support families who can’t afford to buy clean nappies for their children. We are honored to be a small part of this vital cause.

Sebby’s Corner provides basic essentials such as formula, nappies, toiletries, and clothing to families in need. Imagine going to the supermarket and having to decide between buying nappies or formula for your baby because you can't afford both. Picture your daughter getting her period but not being able to afford both period products and renewing her bus pass for school. These heartbreaking choices are a daily reality for many of the hundreds of families Sebby’s Corner supports, with demand for their services skyrocketing and families being in more desperate situations than ever.

Every donation received during this 36-hour campaign will be matched, thus DOUBLING YOUR DONATION. Any donation you can make, big or small, is hugely appreciated and will allow Sebby’s Corner to continue their work so no parent has to make these impossible decisions for their children.
