Happy 100th birthday, Jeanne Vamplew! 🎂

A century young and still inspiring curiosity. Today, we wish a very happy 100th birthday to Jeanne Vamplew, who joined St Paul’s Girls’ School in 1965 and served as Head of Science until 1986.

Former students remember Jeanne as “one of the teachers who truly impacted me the most” and “the best and most inspirational teacher at SPGS”, whose advice remains at the forefront of their thinking even today.

We hope her milestone birthday contains all the right elements. 🧪🎂

And there is plenty to be happy about at SPGS today!

Congratulations to our VI (Year 11) students on their outstanding GCSE and IGCSE results, with an impressive 93.9% of entries awarded 9/8 and over 35% of our students getting straight 9s.

We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved both academically and in the breadth of interests and skills they have developed with the support and dedication of our expert staff. We look forward to seeing them continue the intellectual adventure of a lifetime in Years 12 and 13.

The only race powered by periodic brilliance.

Recently, five SPGS teams took on the annual Chemistry Race alongside schools from across London, tackling increasingly challenging chemistry problems in just 90 minutes.
From moments of head-scratching to breakthrough solutions, the competition celebrated curiosity, collaboration and the joy of solving problems the old-fashioned way.

A huge congratulations to all of our students for embracing the challenge, and thank you to everyone who helped make another fantastic Chemistry Race possible. Here’s to even more scientific thinking in 2027!

Another impressive year for our exceptional students.

Congratulations to our VIII students (Year 13) on their outstanding A level results with 58.1% of grades at A* and 88.6% at A*/A.

We are immensely proud of all they have accomplished. Our students are courageously curious and intellectually bold and their results are testimony to their hard work, supported every step of the way by our dedicated and expert staff.

They are going on to pursue a wide range of subjects at universities across the globe. Over 50 students are moving on to study at Oxford and Cambridge with a further 22 leavers heading off to elite US universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and Stanford.

As they begin their next chapter, we wish every one of our leavers success and happiness in the exciting opportunities ahead.

Not every lesson takes place in a classroom.

Last term, a new project in our Immersive Theatre gave students the chance to explore every aspect of storytelling on screen, from acting and directing to filming, production and the technical craft behind the camera.

Design. Build. Test. Repeat.

Months of regional and national success took the Krakens to Eindhoven, where a fifth-place finish in the UK earned them a place at the European Premier Event of the FIRST Tech Challenge.

The weekend quickly became a lesson in engineering under pressure. A damaged robot, changing team dynamics and a demanding international field required constant adaptation, with students working together to troubleshoot, refine and compete.

The result was more than a competition. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from teams across the world and discover that some of the most valuable breakthroughs happen between matches.

A landmark moment for SPGS rowing. 🇬🇧

Mia has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Junior Women’s 8+ at the U19 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The first SPGS rower to achieve this honour, Mia’s selection follows an exceptional season as captain and stroke of the Henley 8.

Wishing Mia and Team GB every success on the world stage.
