For the final session of ELATT's coding club, our Sixth Form students headed to UBS and left with a lot more than just coding skills. ๐Ÿ’ป

Students took on a hands-on robotics challenge, applying code to programme and control mini robots, with guidance and support from UBS volunteers throughout.

It was the perfect way to round off the coding club. Practical, inspiring and a genuine window into what working in tech looks like day to day.

AI, cybersecurity and the tech skills London employers are looking for in 2026 06/07/2026

Last month, our students spent a day at UBS in London, learning about AI, cybersecurity and what working in tech actually looks like.

They took part in a real cybersecurity exercise with just curiosity and a willingness to try.

We've written about what the day covered and why these skills matter for anyone thinking about a career in tech in 2026.

AI, cybersecurity and the tech skills London employers are looking for in 2026 Find out what tech skills London employers are actively hiring for in 2026, and how you can get started, even without a tech background.

Our Level 3 EPQ learners stepped into the world of cuttingโ€‘edge tech as they presented their independent research projects to industry mentors at UBS.

They looked in depth at different topics from AIโ€‘driven autopilot systems to grapheneโ€‘based hardware, VR pilot training, and modern aviation safety, and students shared ambitious ideas and explained their research with clarity and confidence.

A huge thank you to UBS for giving our learners the chance to build their critical thinking, communication, and professional presentation skills in a real boardroom environment.

Could you make the right call under pressure? Our students had to. ๐Ÿ’ป

During Tech Skills Day at UBS, our students took on a cybersecurity decisions and disruptions exercise, working through real-world scenarios that tech professionals face every day. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป

Teams were given a budget and had to decide how to invest it to protect a business from cyber threats, choosing from options like firewalls, security training, network monitoring and more. Each round brought new challenges and new decisions. ๐Ÿค”

It was challenging, eye-opening and, by all accounts, a lot of fun. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ
This is what learning by doing really looks like. ๐Ÿ’š
