Women's Social – A Year On! 💛🍽️

Last year, I hosted a Women’s Day dinner—a beautiful evening of great food, deep conversations, and new connections. This year, it'll be a late lunch and I’m bringing the cooking into the mix, so it’ll truly feel like being at a friend’s house, sharing moments, stories, and delicious recipes together.

The idea is simple: we all know incredible women, so why not bring them together? A space to connect, inspire, and support one another—because when we lift each other up, amazing things happen.

Let’s celebrate, cook, eat, and exchange ideas in a warm and welcoming space. Bring an open heart, a curious mind, and let’s make it another unforgettable time. 💫

Tag a friend who should join us!

For me 14th February has always been about love in all its forms: family, friends, community, pets and obviously romantic love, but when the latter is lacking, I hope you have other sources, including maybe the most important and underrated one, self-love.

Treat yourself, with food or a relaxing bath, a walk, a concert, some relaxing time, a workshop, a holiday or something you've always wanted to try. It can be small or big, but it is really important to keep this practice alive. So I hope that today was a beautiful day for you and that you did something that made you happy.

Also, remember that Valentine's day was born as a pagan festivity, it was called Lupercalia in Roman times to celebrate the coming of spring time and European birds' mating season. It only later on got transformed into what it is today, so interpret it as you like and pick your favourite story for this day in the calendar.  😘

This is what I made for myself today with some leftovers from yesterday (in the zero waste spirit that I have, haha): heart-shaped beetroot ravioli with herby whipped feta filling with some spinach and garlic. And I also stuffed myself with the chocolate and chestnut truffles I taught in the class 🙈 Great source of energy with antioxidants, gluten-free carbs that keep you full for long, high in fiber (good for the gut), magnesium, potassium and the mood-lifting cocoa, so that's a sort of guilt-free pleasure.

Comment RECIPE on my previous post or here for me to send you the access to the video of the class with the step-by-step instructions and ingredients of the beetroot gnocchi and chocolate & chestnut truffles. Free for the whole Valentine's weekend 🥰

Pics from yesterday's class: I purposefully aim these Valentine's classes at everyone, single or in a relationship as I always try to make things inclusive and not to have anyone feel left out, sad or lonely on this day. For this reason, I'm offering the recording of the class with step-by-step guidance on how to cook the menu by yours truly for free for this whole weekend. Just comment "RECIPE" here and I'll send you the link in DM. 🤗

We cooked:

- beetroot gnocchi with whipped feta and herbs

- chocolate and chestnut truffles

We had a laugh and I'm so proud of everyone who participated and cooked live.with me and the ones who watched and will do it later, well done for showing up and doing your best, trying, asking questions and surprising yourself with the results! I absolutely love to see the joy on people that don't feel that confident in the kitchen and they're amazed by what they just cooked and their new-found capabilities 🌟 I hope this will give you the confidence to cook more, to trust yourself and to not be scared to try. 💪

Some ideas on how to spend this International Women’s Weekend (and beyond), including among others. ( 😅)

Will you try any?

No need for a caption. The food talks for itself.

6th January marks in Italy the end of the festivities and it is also the last day of school holidays.
The Pagan tradition sees the “Befana”, an old witch flying on a broom, that delivers sweets to kids (or charcoal to the badly behaved ones), usually in a big sock. This is an evolution of the ancient celebration with Goddess Diana who was bringing prosperity to the fields after the winter solstice.
The Catholic Church then converted her into the witchy looking “Befana” to create an evil character opposed to the one of the Three Kings who were following the comet Star of Bethlehem to bring gifts for baby Jesus. I put a picture of a cake my mum baked in the shape of a comet. 💫
My aunt to this day builds a nativity scene at home and each day she moves the Kings’ figurines forward towards the shelter where Joseph, Mary and Jesus are. I am not religious myself, but I do like that tradition and have fond memories of celebrating it, mostly with lots of sweets and just a time to gather together around food and play board games.

In Greece it’s an even bigger and more significant celebration with a ritual where the priest throws a cross into the sea and blesses the water. Usually a group of young men will dive to retrieve the cross and the one who will catch it will be the lucky one and will be blessed too.

Did you celebrate at all? What’s your tradition?
