ISO Chart…

In very basic terms, ISO is simply a camera setting that will brighten or darken a photo. As you increase your ISO number, your photos will grow progressively brighter. For that reason, ISO can help you capture images in darker environments, or be more flexible about your aperture and shutter speed settings.

However, raising your ISO has consequences. A photo taken at too high of an ISO will show a lot of grain, also known as noise, and might not be usable. So, brightening a photo via ISO is always a trade-off. You should only raise your ISO when you are unable to brighten the photo via shutter speed or aperture instead (for example, if using a longer shutter speed would cause your subject to be blurry).

Lighting…

Honestly it’s amazing what you can do with lighting. Quick tip make sure that the light is hitting the subject you’ll be surprised at how people miss the target especially when your under pressure and you have a very limited time. Also when you get people to hold the light their arms get tired and the light starts to move so bare this in mind. Don’t forget to adjust Aperture and Shutter Speed.

If you are struggling let me know in the comments below what are your pain points? and I’ll do my utmost best to answer all your questions.

Take time to practice, practice to perfection. Make all your mistakes while training. So on the Wedding Day you shoot like a pro. 👊

Poses Poses Poses memories those Poses…

As a wedding photographer your clients expect you to make them look good together, remember they are not models they won’t know any of the poses if anything they will feel awkward.

Your job is to put them at ease and get them posing for pictures while having fun and getting them awesome couple pictures.

Research and learn how to pose couples. Find pictures that inspire you and copy them and then make them your own, with your own style.

Think about hand placements, how you want them to stand, how close they should be to each other, emotions, where you want them to look, what story you want the picture to tell.

At first this can be daunting but over time with practice you will become better as I always say practice makes perfect.

So go and nail those couple shoots.

Picture Explained…

So for this picture it’s all about the lighting. The venue was dark and I wanted a moody look.

Experiment with lighting your subjects, move your lights left, right, up, down see the effects that you get also play with Aperture.

I personally like low Aperture’s eyes in focus along with whatever else is in that plane, and everything else blurred out.

Practice makes perfect so keep shooting till perfection.

Backup, Backup, BACKUP…

Data Loss Prevention
We’ve all heard about or experienced a tragic loss of data. The main reason to backup your files is to save those important files if a system crash or hard drive failure occurs.

You should always have backups if the original backups result in data corruption or hard drive failure.

This is best done via the cloud or external hard drive.

Additional backups are necessary if natural or man-made disasters occur.

Luckily, we are in the age of cloud technology, where backing up your data has become easier and more secure than ever before so make sure you use this to your advantage. Get into good habits from the start and backup straight away.

You will thank me for it later.

Benefits of Shooting RAW Photos!

As an uncompressed format, RAW offers many advantages over a compressed file format like JPG.

If the camera format is set to raw, no processing is applied, and therefore the file stores more tonal and color data. With more data stored in the file, there is more processing flexibility than a JPEG can offer.

Better detail and dynamic range: If you have a high-end camera with a large megapixel count, you will see a noticable difference between the camera's RAW mode and JPEG mode. RAW provides far more image information, allowing you to capture more detail and greater dynamic range from your camera sensor.

More flexibility for editing: When you transfer images from your camera's SD card to a hard drive for editing, you will appreciate the image quality you get from RAW data. Whereas JPEG files are processed by the camera (resulting in a loss of color data), RAW files are unprocessed and contain more color data for you to work with during the editing process.
More creative control: When you save files using lossy compression, as is the case with the JPEG format, you have fewer options in terms of tweaking brightness, contrast, white balance, color saturation, and tonal range detail. If your goal is to be creative, you'll get better results manipulating RAW images.

Manual mode gives you complete control over your camera settings. Once your camera is set to Manual, you can adjust different settings.

Most importantly, shooting in Manual lets you independently adjust the three key exposure variables:

ISO
Aperture
Shutter Speed

Together, the ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed determine the overall brightness of your photos (i.e., the exposure). They also affect your photos in other key ways – by adjusting the sharpness, depth of field, and overall image quality.

That’s what makes Manual mode so powerful.

In Manual, you can make your photos appear exactly as dark or light as you want. You can also ensure perfect sharpness, create different depth of field effects, and keep your low-light photos looking high quality.

Take time to practice, practice to perfection. Make all your mistakes while training.
